Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. CanadaLocation was remote, surf was blown out but that's not the hotel's fault.
We were there in the rainy season (December). The beach was not very appealing as it was super windy and there was a lot of trash, but the rooms are very nice. We stayed in the two twin rooms which were the best available, in my opinion. They were set back, near the pool. The king rooms looked nice, and had an ocean view, but they have glass doors facing a public area so are not very private. The rooms in between the king and twin look very small with tiny windows. The beds are very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs has great food, but is a little more pricey than other places (but still very reasonable compared to home). The view is gorgeous and this would be an excellent place to stay and surf in the dry season. Unfortunately, it was very stormy while we were there so we weren't able to surf out front. Also, be aware that it is quite far from anything. It took us close to an hour to get to Uluwatu because the roads were so narrow and busy, but we were there over Christmas so maybe that is why there was so much congestion.

SwedenThe beach was very dirty and not possible to swim in.
It was really beach front and nice cafe downstairs. Also the pool was nice alternative as we couldn’t swim in the sea.

AustraliaAccess to the property was difficult, so arriving and departing with heavy luggage wasn’t easy. you can either walk through a building site or across the sand, I would stay here again if backpacking through.
The location was incredible, such a good spot, beautiful and clean rooms. Would absolutely stay again.

United KingdomHard to get to from taxi drop off point - steep dirt road, no hangers in room, beach loungers had a high minimum spend, nails sticking out of floor boards, construction on both sides, expensive for what you get (small windowless room and no breakfast)

AustraliaIt was very hard to find, I had to walk with my bags along the road as cars couldn’t get down that far, then had to walk down the beach to the cafe and through a construction site to find the place. The floor in the room mustn’t have insulation or sound proofing because we could hear all the staff in the cafe below super loudly all day until they finished work (maybe that was just our room though). Even outside our rooms we could hear other guests loudly on the phone while trying to sleep.
The place itself was beautiful and being right on the beach with the cafe below was lovely! The room was nice and comfortable but a little bit small. We loved going out and looking at the rockpools at sunset and having a drink from the balcony!

United KingdomRooms could be cleaner, although not too bad. Some minor maintenance would also be good, but remember where you are!
If your looking to surf Balangan beach, this location is perfect, you couldnt get better. Jimmy's Cafe downstairs is also amazing. It's also very quiet in the evenings. Great air conditioning

AustraliaBetter access, fridge in room .
Great position however for the money, no fridge or jug. Small room. Atrocious access to actual hotel. Walk through garbage, through another resort then construction site. Weren’t really sure whether we were at Yhe Point.

United KingdomVery basic bathrooms, and our room only had a window into the corridor. Slightly tricky to access - through other accommodation/along the beach. Cafe below closes quite early (but decent Warung next door if arriving late).
Good position on the beach. Nicely decorated rooms and comfy beds. Cafe below serves great food.

United KingdomWe had two rooms, king size beds are great but are too big for room 3. We couldn’t open the cupboard as bed was stopping doors open. Room 5 was fine.
Location great, we had been to the area before so we knew where it was located. Could be clearer on the explanation that you have to walk down the beach and it is on top of Jimmy’s cafe.

AustraliaAs stated in other reviews it is hardish to get there from the uba. You will need to walk down a dirt road with your bags. Turn left and go over the bridge that is the bigger one. Then you need to walk through a building site to get to the hotel. On the last day the water had run out so there was no shower. The bathroom door was heavy and did not work on the rollers. It was expensive for what we got.
The location is lovely. We liked being on the beach. The bed was comfortable and the small pool out back is nice. The room was clean.

United KingdomRemote location far from everywhere so have to taxi everywhere. Limited restaurants nearby though the ones up the road were lovely. The staff never put any sunloungers or bean bag seats out so we had to pay to use others further down the beach. We were surprised at how rocky the beach is and the thin strip of sand is only accessible at low tide the sea.literally comes up to the doorsteps of the hotel. Also there are no signs to get to the hotel and no car access so you have to carry luggage a fair walk across the beach. It's great for surfers but if you don't surf its not great.
I liked the seafront position, the cleanliness of the place and the cafe attached. The pool out the back was lovely and The staff were also super helpful and friendly.

AustraliaAccess to the general area Balangan Beach is on busy, narrow, winding, confusing roads for a first time visit. Parking a car when you get there and accessing the resort could be better explained. When driving, Access the beach via the southern entrance and park down the hill from the donation boom gate- if you reach a bridge on the left to Mazu Beach Club then you’ve gone too far. Access to the resort after parking is via walking along the beach at low tide- bring minimal luggage. At high tide with swell you need to walk through the Mazu Beach Club and a building site
Great location right on the beach

South AfricaWe were in the delux double room 3 which was very cramped, minimal space to put your clothes and tricky walking around the big bed frame without knocking yourself. The Big negative was the fact that the music being played in the restaurant downstairs was beating through the wooden floor (seemed to be just room 3, right above the speaker) which made it impossible to have any sort of nap/sleep throughout the day. Even after suggesting to move the speaker or turn the bass down, nothing was done. Disappointed as this was the first Warung I stayed at 14 years ago. (I know it's been rebuilt but that's why I wanted to come back and give it a go).
The location is amazing, right on the beach. It doesn't get any better!

New ZealandIt's not really possible to swim right in front of the hotel, some litter at the beach, and a bit crazy way to reach the hotel - either walking down the beach or through a building site. Some smells coming from neighbouring property you can smell by the pool side. Thou overall, I would not mind staying again.
Stunning view, nice beach nearby (the other end of the beach), comfortable nice clean room with aircon, swimming pool. The property is nice and tidy. Awesome restaurant short walk up the road - Bombora Sunset Bar has delicious curry.

South AfricaThere was no where in the accommodation to lounge or relax, except around the pool, which is at the back of the property. Ideally there should have been couches in the front area for guests to sit. There is a bench and chairs, but not very comfy. The property needs to have a bookcase with some books to read, as well as some games for when the weather is not great. There is no service between the Restaurant and the Hotel so you cannot charge meals etc to your room. You have to pay each time, which is a bit of a deterrent. The pics on Booking.Com and description needs to be updated.
Location of the venue was great - right on the beach. The bed and linen super comfortable. The rooms were serviced daily and the pool was well kept.

AustraliaThis place was on the more expensive side for our family. We booked both deluxe ocean view rooms. From the photos we thought the ocean view deck was private but it is a shared space. All guests walk past your door to get to their rooms. Access to the property is through a construction site with a plank of wood to balance on with no lighting at night. You can also access from the beach when the tide is low enough. Parking is a short walk away and a bit further up the hill for the car. The locals ask for beach entry fee every time you come and go but when we told them we stay at the point most let us through for free. There was no fridge and limited clothes drying facilities. The warung below is high price compared to the local warungs further up. The price point per night with no breakfast I feel is a little steep. But I can't complain about that view - especially in light of the cost of other places with ocean views in the area.
The view was amazing!! The pool at the back was nice for the kids. The decor is light and bright and air con ice cold. The staff helped us with bags. Beds were comfortable. Hot water.

NorwayA room without a window felt very claustrophobic. Not much room to store your suitcase, or use the closet. It’s hard to get to without transport, so it’s more of a place ro stay chilled and off the grit for a few days. Missed having a little shop or deli nearby to get water, drinks etc. gets expensive when you need to buy it all from the cafe.
A small but very charming hotel at Balangan Beach. The area is a bit run down, and can need some upgrades but has it charm. The cafe downstairs is fantastic, and the staff is lovely. Loved the view from the cafe and upstairs. Lovely to stay right on the beach.
