Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsIvan was a great host. We had nice conversations and he is always happy to see you and help you. The rooms were nice and basic. The beds were good, so we had a good sleep. The location is nice: quiet area surrounded by trees. It is located very centrally, so you have to scooter a bit to get to all places. But we knew that beforehand. We used Gojek, since we didn't feel comfortable riding the scooter there ourselves.

Ivan, the manager, is a very good and communicative person. This place is well designed and feels like a surf camp. Is really different experience to live in wooden bungalow and I like it. Location is great to discover Bukit on bike. Great view from the common zone and overall common zone is good: clean, has everything that I needed and comfortable hammocks. In this place lives a cat and a cock

United StatesBugs and lizards were the only issue. They did their best providing repellant and bed netting for my room.
Amazing stay! Location and setting was unmatched. A nice little pocket of serenity not too far from the restaurants and businesses of Uluwatu. The staff, amenities, and rooms exceeded my expectations. Will stay again!

Indonesia- We get there via a car and definitely it was super challenging to get to this accommodation due to narrow road, added the plants on the way to VHB was not trimmed making scratch on the body of my car - The sea view room we get has no A/C and the weather was not cooling during night time, though there is a fan, the night wasn’t enjoyable. What more making it sadder is the room below us is cheaper and equipped with A/C, the only difference only with no sea view. - The listing list a lil bit misleading as kitchen was categorized as room amenity while in fact it is a shared facility that on upper level, same area as ‘tree house’ - No toiletries provided
The property is quite secluded and peaceful. Ivan as a host has been great and lovely, same applies to the housekeepers Ladies. The room we got offers beautiful ocean view. The room is neat & clean.

AustraliaI found the bed a little firm and struggled with the shower head a little when washing my hair as it was a handheld system but other than that the facilities and property was great!
The host Ivan went above and beyond to help me whenever he could! The shared space is both warm and homely and a great area for getting to know other guests, swap books or just lounge around with Martine (the very friendly villa cat) enjoying the stunning view - Especially from the treetop hanging bridge! The property also has surfboards for you to hire and a cashew tree with fruit to eat!

GermanyI personally didn’t mind but I read up front that there was no AC. With fans on it was fine though and I think they were even installing it in some rooms as I left.
It’s stunning. The views, the building, the room all of it was really beautiful. Ivan in particular was the nicest host making everything feel smooth and welcoming. I’d recommend it just to meet him and brighten up your day 😊 rented a scooter super easily from him as well which made getting around super nice.

United KingdomShame it doesn’t provide breakfast. The room hasn’t got any amenities, no shower gel/shampoo. No fridge (only available in communal area). We were given only 2 towels, asked for 2 more (free) we had to ask for hairdryer too, which wasn’t working properly anyway (if you have long hair, wasn’t suitable)
Very basic room, but was really cute. It really gave us the jungle vibes. Ivan welcomed us and it was keeping communication with us from prior to check in until we left. We also organised scooter rental for us. It’s only 15 scooter away to main West/south side island attractions. Very quiet area, you can only hear tokek Gekos at night.

HungaryThe only downside was that the room has “open” areas, and mosquitoes could come in, but the room had a mosquito repellent spray and plug in, which worked very well!
We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean, and the bathroom was very unique! Ivan, the host was really welcoming, and kind, we had a great time! It also has a kitchen, and a hangout area with a great view!

AustraliaIt was hard to get grabs to come to vertical house as it’s not the easiest location and the walk is treacherous to get anywhere easier so waited a bit for travel. Saw a baby snake but otherwise no concerning animals
I loved the feeling of being a bit away from the city and off the beaten track.

We recommend the Vertical House to everyone visiting Uluwatu. Our experience there started with the best way of welcoming with Ivan, the host of the structure. He is such a kind guy, offering to help us with everything we needed, even sending us recommendations. He also offered us transport. And was genuinely nice to talk with. The position is good connected, but at the same time quiet and relaxing. The room we ve stayed in was beautifully presented and had everything we needed from a small kitchenette, table and chill area, and really comfy double bed. The shared areas are also very welcoming and you even have a nice viewpoint to the ocean.

AustraliaTraffic could sometimes be pretty loud during busy times but it would die down pretty quickly. Considering there’s construction everywhere in ulu, it was fine!
Very warm and welcoming hosts. We stayed here before spending time closer to main part of Uluwatu, followed by Pecatu, but we really loved the vertical house area. It felt much more like Bali as opposed to big westernised areas. Beds and pillows very comfy, always cleaned everyday with fresh linen and towels.
