Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaOnly that there were no black teabags. But I could get some at breakfast and it’s a problem everywhere in Japan. Also breakfast was fine but not as good as the next hotel we had.
Clean, compact but provided everything we needed. Great to stay near the subway stations of Kuramae and Asakusa. I was worried about the air conditioning in the heat of summer but it was fine and we could control it. Good to pay extra for the corner room with two windows over the river so it didn’t seem so small. Next time I might book the APA closer to Asakusa station as there are more eateries there and I loved the Asakusa Tourist cultural information center opposite Senso-ji Temple. They sell the subway pass which is excellent value. I recommend that. Good to have the microwave on the lobby floor to heat food from the convenience store. The river is a good spot for a picnic.

United KingdomThe breakfast was in a whole other building and personally, I did not enjoy it very much, I found myself eating pretty much the same thing for over a week: fruit salad, orange juice and a couple sandwiches. There was absolutely no pastry such as buns like advertised, only bread slices, which was a bit disappointing. I am also not a fan of fish so food in Japan is automatically a bit rougher for me I suppose.
The way they utilise the small space they have with a bunch of amenities you might need is really cool. The rooms offer slippers, bath robes, there's coffee, there are some brochures, shavers, shower cap and etc. The TV was playing some funny educational ads on how they advise the tourists to behave in Japan and I found that pretty cool too. We had the corner room on the top floor with two windows and I have no regrets - the view is very nice, even if the windows were small. The location was great, not too far from a few metro stations and an awesome temple.

Nice hotel for a sort stay. The room is quite small but that’s Japan. Nice view from the corner room. Clean and really close to two different subway stations. Also seven eleven outside the hotel and walkable distance to Senso Ji Temple.

GermanyI think it is relatively cheap since the rooms are very small, so they can compensate the price with the number of rooms available. I did not like the breakfast at all (as a person who do not eat meat for breakfast). The varieties are limited, the breakfast hall is very small and it is not well aired. Although I paid for the breakfast, I did not voluntarily go the last day.
APA hotels generally are one of the cheapest options (Value for money). It is a good option for people that use the room only to sleep and shower and out most of the time.

CanadaThe room was a bit smaller than expected for the two of us. The washing machine was out of order for a short while.

ItalyThe breakfast was in another building nearby. We didn’t like the restaurant and the food much. It was a bit messy-looking and the food was only so so. Below Japanese standards in our opinion. But this is only true for the breakfast service. Everything else met our expectations.
The view from our room was amazing. We loved the neighbourhood, it was so peaceful and inspiring.

United KingdomThe rooms were very small, barely big enough for 2 people...great if you won't be spending too much time indoors and don't have big luggage. The hotel insists on cleaning the rooms every 2 days (for "hygiene reasons")whether you like it or not, so if you are staying for a few days and would rather not be disturbed 1 day before checking out, sorry! There is no do not disturb sign do you don't have the option to sleep in as a cleaner can come in or knock any time which I found disturbing! Also, breakfast is not in the hotel itself but at a different one down the road @ APA Ekimae Kita (though in all fairness it was literally 1 minute walk)..also every thing about this hotel chain is designed to minimise human interaction so you really don't get the chance to thank staff for anything. One English TV channel available (BBC) so good luck if you are looking to spend the day in (they do allow you to sign in to your Netflix subscription and to stream from your phone/device so would suggest you consider bringing a HDMI connector which will allow you to plug in your device conveniently from the bedside as well)
Location was close to Senso-ji Temple (10 minutes walk), Sky tree (20 minutes walk) and located between Kuramae and Asakusa Stations with direct Link to Haneda Airport (49 mins from Asakusa or 47 from Kuramae) and to Ueno Park and Central Tokyo, on a busy road but quiet in the rooms, with our room overlooking the Sumida River. Very clean hotel, amenities changed daily (with sheets changed every 3 days). There's also a washing machine and drier/laundry room onsite if you are travelling light and need to wash a few things ..which can come in pretty handy. Great hotel overall will consider staying here next time.
