Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeIt's a common thing for Tokyo hotels to be slightly small in size. That's the only downside but it was enough space for 2 people and a big luggage :)
This hotel was excellent!! It's close to Ueno station so its very convenient if you are taking the Narita Express or if you want to take the JR line. There's so many things to see within a 5km radius of the hotel. The best part is that there is an onsen in the building so you can soak in the hot bath after your long day!!! Love it

ThailandI've never had to call the receptionist during any of my stays, but this is the first time I've had to call the front desk every night! I stayed for three nights (four days) and on the second day, I requested bed making at 11:30 AM, expecting the usual daily cleaning. However, I later found out that if I needed daily cleaning, I had to make the request and leave the room before 9:00 AM, which is earlier than the checkout time. As a result, they just hung a towel on my door. It wasn’t as if I left at 2 PM and expected all of this to be done. I typically leave between 11:00 and 11:30 AM at other hotels and have never had this kind of issue before. Although the front desk eventually offered some thoughtful solutions, I was still disappointed with the overall experience. I understand that tap water in Japan is drinkable, but after receiving a complimentary bottle of water on the first day, I expected another one the following day, yet none was provided. Not sure if I had to pick up at the reception downstairs but it didn’t make sense. Why not just place one when you cleaned the room. On the third day, I decided to pick up a water bottle from the check-in counter, but a female staff member suddenly approached me and insisted I couldn't take one because they had already provided it (on the first day? Lol). I explained that I didn’t receive any bottles the previous night (if they had given one, it should have been in the bag hung at my door). Her expression made it seem like she thought I was lying over a single bottle of water. Unbelievable! Even if the hotel had no policy to provide complimentary bottles of water the following nights, I wondered if there is any necessity to force the customer to consume tap water, green tea powder, or whatever, especially when a guest was already there.

United States- One of our group's rooms was extremely smelly due a plumbing issue; the room should not have been rented out. The staff fixed this the next day after we notified them. - A/C system automatically shuts off after a couple hours, which was very annoying when trying to keep the room a comfortable sleeping temperature. - Did not offer Kuroneko Yamato pickup, which was a surprise to us and caused a headache upon check-out. - Rooms were very small and somewhat dark, as expected.
Great location near Ueno station, rooms were quiet, public baths were very relaxing and not too crowded, good provided yukata, good coin laundry facilities.

United StatesAlmost everything.
There was no sunlight come into our room due to building next to our hotel block. Bathroom drain was blocked and bathroom flooded. The dining room for breakfast is not equipped to handle flow of guests and no changes in menu one day to another. We asked to get refund after the first morning to the hotel, and we were rejected.

United StatesThe hotel has tried to automate everything, with kiosks for self checkin and checking bags at the beginning or end of your stay. Our experience was that this was overly complicated and we constantly encountered technical issues. It took forever to check in and also check our bags on the final day -- it took us a half hour just to get our bags checked, which seemed silly since they were just left tied up in the lobby. It would probably go much more smoothly if staff handled checkin and bag check directly. There were certainly enough staff in the lobby that this would be more than feasible, and the staff ended up backseat driving the checkin process at the kiosk anyways since there were so many technical issues and questions with the process. The rooms were also much smaller than anticipated. My large Away roller bag was not able to fit open on the ground -- I had to open it on the bed and then close it and store it on its side between the bed and wall, which was pretty inconvenient. You also have to shower with the bathroom door closed, otherwise the steam will set off the fire alarm, which was somewhat claustrophobic given the small space. The bed was not very comfortable. It felt like a cheap mattress, thin and hard pillows (there were something like beans or beanbags on the inside for some reason), and there was an A/C in the room that you do not have total control over (we could not set it lower than about 68 degrees fahrenheit -- if you're a hot sleeper like me, this might be uncomfortable). Finally, the window opened within a few feet of another building, so we got next to no light into the room itself. For the most part, these issues didn't terribly impact our stay since we spent a lot of time out in the city, but I would definitely not book here again and instead pay a little more to be in a nicer space.
The hotel is conveniently located near public transit and overall seemed fairly clean.
