Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing. It was a perfect stay!
We loved everything about this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, super comfortable and it was a pretty reasonable size. The staff were wonderful - English speaking, incredibly and always helpful. They have a complimentary tea and coffee station in the lobby, as well as an evening Sake station - yep, free sake if that’s your thing! They also have an origami station which my daughter and I really enjoyed using the “How To” book. We had our luggage forwarded from Osaka and they were already waiting in our room when we checked in - a huge convenience for us. The location is fantastic! Tucked away in a quiet laneway just off the Shinkyogoku Shopping District, the hotel is within walking distance of Gion, Nishiki Market, and so much more. There’s a taxi rank nearby, plus subway entrances just a few minutes away - it was super easy to get around. It’s a modern, stylish, and welcoming hotel that’s absolutely worth spending that little extra to stay here. If you’re visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend staying here.

United StatesNo onsen or spa to go to, but not a big deal.
Location was perfect! Right in the Nishiki market and other stores/restaurants. Room was a comfortable size, includes sleep wear and shampoo/conditioner. We had 3 twin beds for 3 of us (2 adults, 1 child) and the beds were comfortable. Some amenities available in the lobby of the hotel, which was nice.

United StatesEverything was great for our stay.
We did not have breakfast at the hotel but there were food places right by the hotel. The location was amazing if you’re looking for something close to the train/bus stations. The bus stops are right around the corner, there’s a train station right by the hotel and also a main station 5 min walk away. It’s right behind the main busy street and there’s an alleyway of shops right next to the hotel. The washer/dryer unit added to the value of our stay. We had to dry a load maybe twice to fully dry but it depends on how big the load of laundry is.

United StatesThe hotel is extremely hard to find. It is actually in the market where cars are not allowed. It took us two taxes and asking three different people before we were able to find the hotel.
Very nice people. You’re right in the market, so fun and interesting. We were surprised by crowds. Our room was small but well equipped.

AustraliaPleasantly surprised by this hotel. In a fantastic location just off the main shopping drag in Kyoto, but perfectly quaint and quiet. Room was spacious and had a beautiful view. The washing machine, sink and microwave made the stay more comfortable than others. It was also nice to have a window that we could open after multiple stays in Japan without this option. Wonderful staff and very accommodating. Would stay again if I come back :)

AustraliaHard to pick anything, I can't fault anything. Probably the only thing is it is normally a little expensive. We found an amazing deal, but it was a random one off, but I am very glad otherwise we couldn't have afforded to stay.
The location inside the shopping arcade is simply excellent. The hotel is well presented, staff are helpful and the rooms are quite large for japan. The free sake and wine bar, as well as tea/coffee and soft drinks, was made for an even more comfortable stay. These touches make all the difference for weary travellers. This was my (and my child's) second time visiting in 6 years, and this time, I brought friends who also loved it. The location is not far from Gion and easy to access from kyoto station via taxi or bus. The Hankyu line is also literally underneath the hotel, which we used to get back to Osaka for our flight. We will definitely be back for visit number 3!

United StatesNothing. Great place, great spot.
We had a moment of worry upon delivery by taxi and unsure he took us to right spot. Once we found, it was nothing but smooth sailing. This was a fantastic location for for both walking and train. Very modern & comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful, including our first time shipping luggage. The wine and sake machine was a great touch as well. We booked this place to take advantage of in- room laundry, and I was able to figure out with Google translate.

AustraliaThe best part of this hotel is the washing machine and microwave that is available in your room. Some drinks, coffee machine and ice making machine were also free at the front. Location of the hotel was perfect as it is very close to Gion, Nishiki Market and Large shopping centres whilst hidden away facing the back street.
