Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyNothing to say. Every time I am in Tokyo I stay here
The position is a plus. Extremely convenient and well located. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well organized. Rooms a bit small (but nothing different from Japanese standards) but very comfy. The staff is helpful and friendly.

AustraliaA bit expensive for what you get. The bathroom is tiny and the room itself nothing special. That being said, we didn't have any complaints either.
It was clean, friendly staff, and a good location in Tokyo. Easy to get to a lot of different neighborhoods and also enough nice restaurants close by.

AustraliaNothing, everything was great!
The staff were so accomodating and helpful coming from me whose first time in Japan! The location is great too having it close to a train station, family mart, food and bars - and yet not disturbing area at all.

PolandThe room was small but that is to be expected in the city centre of Tokyo. I wish the rooftop was an open to guests common area, instead it was charged
The hotel had a fresh good design. The hot spa was a great addition to the stay. Good location to move around Tokyo but can get noisy at night

United KingdomThe rooms are small (quite normal for Tokyo) but very comfortable and well located, the hotel is a short walk to 3 different metro lines, so ideal for exploring Tokyo. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants only a short walk away without the rooms being noisy.

IndiaThe rooms are very very small, which is not a deal breaker per se, but if you have a lot of luggage then may be difficult to move around in the tiny room.
Very efficient, polite and kind staff. Location of the hotel is fantastic and it’s a lively neighbourhood with plenty of good food options around.

United KingdomBathroom was so small it was awkward sitting on the toilet and the sink was in the main room with the twin beds. No smoking room available on site.
Very small room, but that’s what you get for a great central location. Staff were friendly and there’s a free coffee machine on the ground floor.

United StatesThe room was pretty tight. We tried to get one of the bigger rooms, yet it was still pretty small. If you have a lot of luggage (we had 4 bags at this point in our trip), would look into something bigger. Outside of the room size, there was no real things to not like.
The neighborhood where Hotel Hillarys is at is perfect. We really got it because it was a decent price for the stay, but little did we know that we were around so many restaurants and stores. There were a lot of things to do in the area. We scrapped some of our plans to check out the hood.

AustraliaThis time the price was much higher but that is about the time of year.
We chose to stay for a 2nd time (last visit Jan 2023) as we found it very good for our needs. Its close to transport, lots of places to eat, lots of places for easy snacks Lawson, 7Eleven etc. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom adequate and what to expect in a Tokyo hotel room. We actually walked from Tokyo Station to the property as it was a lovely afternoon and we passed by the Imperial Palace and external gardens. It took about 40 minutes and was a great experience. It shows you how close you are to central attractions.

United KingdomAs others have said little luggage storage in the room
Although rooms are small, for anyone who’s stayed in Paris or Rome it’s no different. We loved the location, close to transport links, good restaurants and more laid back than some areas. Rooms and Onsen were lovely and very clean. The rooms were really nice and quiet at night.

United StatesThe beds, although decent, were too large relative to the size of the room. This led to the overall space being very cramped. The shower in the room was fairly low pressure, so it was better to shower in the spa.

DenmarkThe listing said "room selected at check-in" between double and twin, and I thought that meant I could select but in practice it was the hotel's selection, and I had to pay more to get a twin room. I also wrote to them ahead of time to ask what it meant, but received no reply. I think the listing is confusing.
Overall a good location and the room was fine, if a bit small.

United StatesThe size of the room for the price of the stay didn’t feel worth it. The room was so small my wife and I felt like we could hardly move to get ready in the morning.
The onsen, the staff, and the cleanliness were all fantastic.
