Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaUnusual self check in process, would have been helpful to know that via email beforehand. If we didn’t see someone else do it, we wouldn’t have known. Good location near Kyoto main train station. Very clean and comfortable hotel

United KingdomNothing..everything was as we wanted.
Easy checking in process… we received the code on the morning of arrival and it allowed access to the lobby and room. It is minimally staffed but that suited us. The twin room was a good size for the two of us, it was clean and well stocked with coffee and tea making facilities. The en suite was also very clean. The towels were changed every day and bins emptied. It was simple but perfect for what we needed…a comfortable bed and a shower after a long day of walking! Not a criticism but advice….eat before you return to the hotel as not much around the hotel although there is a convenience store nearby.

AustraliaThe location was a bit poor if you were looking to be in the heart of kyoto, but nice and close to the station
The room was very clean, TV and chrome cast were very helpful, check in was smooth if you keep up with the hotels emails.

IndonesiaI stayed for 3 nights and it was raining. A washing machine + dryer would be nice to have in the property to clean our dirty / wet clothes.
The property looks new and very clean. But it is unmanned hotel so you have to communicate via app or email all the time. They do clean the room, towel and take your trash out daily. 10+ minutes walk to Kyoto station. Everything is written so guests understand what to do / not to do.

AustraliaPillows weren't very good but thats about it. (To be honest everywhere we've been in Japan pillows are terrible)
Room was good for a few nights and location was perfectly situated close to the train station and conveniences. Was concerned about some reviews suggesting it was difficult to get into rooms and building trying to obtain their QR Key as the building is not staffed but we didnt have any issues ourselves.

SpainThere’s very limited storage space in the room, no early check-in, luggage storage, "do not disturb" sign or laundry available, and the hallway lights stay on all night, letting in a lot of light. It would also be helpful to receive a pre-arrival email explaining how everything works, as we suggested to management (though we haven’t received a response).
It’s important to know this is fully self-managed with no on-site staff. If you're comfortable with technology and have no issues during your stay, the setup is convenient, modern, clean, and gives a great sense of independence.

United StatesNo receptionist... When I had issues with not receiving a QR code to access my room, it was very stressful to use the Japanese only call button in the lobby. The room is also very cold, perhaps the doors need better sealing. There is also no "do not disturb" or "do not clean" option.

United StatesSmall room. Nowhere to store suicases. There are no drawers to put clothes in. Only 3 coat hangers. If you don't like the colour orange, you might want to book elsewhere. TV - local channels only, no movies. Good Coffee machine is provided, but coffee pods are not restocked daily. You get a few tea/ coffee pods upon arrival. That's it. When I asked the staff for some more coffee, I was told 'no!'. So, if you stay longer than one night, you have to buy your own tea and coffee. There is no reception desk on the premises.
Good location. Nice asthetic design. Close to bus and train station & local mall. Safe area. Clean room. Comfy, firm bed. Adjustable room lighting. Coded entry for main entrance and room. Good size bathroom with large tub, great shower pressure & toiletries. Washlet bidet toilet with heated seat. I recommend this hotel, but the Hotel does need to up their game and supply guests with daily tea/coffee and bottle water for the amount you pay per night.

United StatesTrying to checkin. Make sure that you complete the email process before you get to the hotel, because there is nobody there to help you. Also…take your phone charger with you, because if you come back to the hotel with a dead phone. You will have to wait for another person staying at the hotel to come let you into the “lobby”, which does have phone chargers, but they are of little use, if you can’t get into the lobby to use them.
Clean and everything you needed. Close to central Kyoto and the train station.
