Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThere wasn't really anything wrong, but the stay was not very comfortable. The hotel felt a bit messy and dirty and there were some strange smells around the place.
Staff were polite. Room was clean and spacious enough, with a TV and humidifier. Good location - great restaurants and Nijo station nearby.

TurkeyThe rugs at the entrance of the hotel were dirty. When you entered the hotel, you might think a dirty environment is waiting for you, but that's not the case. The hotel should consider changing them.

NetherlandsThe room was kinda dirty and smelled really bad. I did book a smoking room (although I don’t smoke myself, but it’s cheaper) so that might explain the smell, but it doesn’t explain the stains on the bed linen. They did provide a bottle of air refresher wish I emptied completely almost immediately upon my arrival to combat the ratchet smell of smoke. The airconditioning unit was also leaking water onto the desk, and this isn’t really a problem until you realise that there are numerous 110V outlets located on the desk, facing upwards! I moved the desk to avoid being electrocuted to death XD. So the room definitely had some flaws. They also didn’t tidy up my room or change out my towels during my 5 night stay, so I had to use one set of towels/bed linen during my entire stay. (If I could show pictures of the stains and leaking I’d definitely show them, but booking.com only allows me to upload a single picture of the room)
The location is great, it’s about a 15 minute walk to Nijō Castle, and a 25 minute walk to the Imperial Palace. However, it’s about 45/60 minutes to the temples and shrines in the old part of Kyoto. You can take the bus or metro though.

AustraliaNo washing machines available. You need to walk for a long distance to reach the hotel. Not all the staff can speak English well.
The twin room is very big. You can open two large size luggage and walk around the room freely. There are many vending machines (for drinks) at the reception area, which is marvellous. There is independent air conditioner for you to control the room temperature.

United KingdomThe room cleaning policy. Maybe by the government's COVID strategy, the hotel would not provide room cleaning service regularly or you have to pay extra room cleaning service fee. So, it is not good for staying over 2 or more nights.
It is located near Nijo castle and JR station. And you can easily go to everywhere in Kyoto by bus or metro.

UkraineThe kitchen had no plates/spoons/knives/etc. and the staff couldn't provide them, making the kitchen area pointless. The receptionist showed me the wrong elevator to my room making me walk in circles. The room including the air conditioner was dusty. The bed had a stain on it and someone put the bathrobe on top of it to hide it. I found a pair of used shoes under the bed.
The location was ok, close to a bus stop. The room was spacious and included a kitchen area with a stove, a microwave and a fridge. There was a washing machine in the room.
