Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Isle of ManThe one small downside was the breakfast. Absolutely awful, the worst coffee we've ever tasted, and in a weird tacky italian-themed basement room (with a mural of the Last Supper of Christ on the wall!) - very sureal given the luxurious Japanese themed hotel upstairs. Plenty to eat nearby though so not an issue.
Excellent location in heart of shopping district, walking distance to gion, close to pontocho and near a metro. Extremely clean and comfy hotel, very high end look and feel to the place, felt luxurious throughout. The staff were amazing and could not have done more.

GermanyThe location was amazing, in the middle of the shopping street but yet the hotel was very quiet! Very easy to get to from Kyoto station and loved the more traditional vibe of the hotel. It definitely should be more than 3 star rated! Great choice of amenities in the lobby and they even had a lounge where there was free coffee all day. Nice touch was also they had umbrellas for guests which was handy considering it was raining a few days!

South KoreaRoom was way too small for us.. we had big suitcase and we had no any idea where to put and also where to sit rather than only bed. Also To check in, we had to wait bit and entrance of hotel was quite small. Please not only this hotel, WE HAD TO PAY OSAKA CITY TAX IN CASH ONLY WHICH WE DONT UNDERSTAND. It is bit pricey so we will consider book again here when we go to KYOTO.
location was great! there were bunch of place we can go for dinner and lunch. amenities hotel provided us was great! there are small spot for sitting for rest and smoke room plus coffee machine and ice machine as well! We loved that! Of course staff was pretty nice, welcome and helpful. We could communicate in english comfortably. Nice accomodation!

United StatesCoffee machine was out of order on first few days. We missed the Japanese breakfast on our first breakfast day because it was put away, we ate but did not prefer the western breakfast even though we are from the US. Please have matcha machine in lobby.
Location was amazing. Room was cute. Loved the green tea and matcha in room. Nice amenities. Bath was clean. Comfy bed.

AzerbaijanBreakfast, same as on Tokyo was relatively poor for European cousins, but still good enough to top up in the morning.
Moved to Kyoto from Tokyo, so some of observations more for country rather than hotel, so I wouldn't sound negative. Booking was for 4 adults and 8y old kit - 2 rooms, but single 140sm bed in each room were small for stay for parents with kids. I asked to upgrade it next day and hotel made it - mega thanks!! Staff was really great and location wonderful!!

New ZealandBetter large luggage storage options in the rooms would have been appreciated, however we still managed fine.
The location of Hotel Resol was incredible. Right in the centre of Kyoto across the road from the Uniqlo - everything was so accessible on foot. The hotel had great amentities avaliable from reception and we were able to leave our bags with staff for the day prior to moving onto our next location. The traditional style rooms with a modern twist were lovely. This was in our top 3 hotel stays of our trip and the beds were the MOST comfortable of our three week trip from New Zealand. It was also very helpful to have some washing machines and dryers in house. We only stayed here two nights as we transferred to a different hotel on the third night of our stay in Kyoto, however we wished we had stayed for another night here instead. This was slighly more expensive than most of the other places we booked, however it was 100% worth it and we would love to come back here for another stay. Keep up the excellent rooms & work Hotel Resol! Super professional & felt like luxury!

United KingdomI wasn’t too keen on the breakfast selection (although it is very wide) but that’s just personal preference.
Really nice hotel, small but clean room, extremely helpful staff. You don’t need any coins to use the laundry facilities, which was really useful. Great location for exploring Gion (while it’s still allowed). Comfortable bed and pillow. You don’t get any toiletries in your room apart from shower gel / shampoo in the bathroom, but there is a self-service “amenities bar” near reception where you can pick up everything you need for free (the sheet mask is really nice). In order to be more environmentally friendly your room won’t be cleaned everyday but towels are changed daily and bottled water is provided daily too.

AustraliaThey charged for early check in , which was rather disappointing. They advised the room was ready then advised of the fee for checking in 3hours early. The only reason we wanted to check in early was my husband was not feeling great and needed to lie down - so could not be walking around for 3 hours .
Loved the location and space - nothing huge but well designed.
