Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

LithuaniaOnly 2 things, which were not deal breakers for me are: 1. Room is quite dim even with all the lights on. It is good for sleep and relaxation. If you need it to be very bright - there's no option to make it so. 2. It was a double bed with 2 separate mattresses, however they slide on the frame easily. If you sit on the bed with your back against the headrest you might start sliding down with the mattress itself. Or if you lie in the center of the bed you might split the 2 pieces apart and wake up in between the mattresses. If you sleep far apart, in the centers of individual mattresses - there won't be any problems.
Location is great, everything is nearby - konbini, atm, bus and metro stops are a walking distance away, food district is reachable within tens of minutes. Hot bath on the ground floor is a great way to relax. Bar is available as well, however I didn't use it, so can't tell if it's good. Liked the room styling. There's blinds on the window that do a good job if you want to isolate light and sleep longer, because in summer the sunrise is at 4A.M.. Staff if very polite and helpful. Can't really say anything bad. Ordered the massage that the hotel offers. It is a non-oil massage, and it is performed by people who come to hotel on demand and massage you in your room. The experience was great after a couple days full of walking with a backpack, since there's no oil involved they can really sink their fingers in instead of rubbing you with no impact, so again - great for muscles and tendons.

New Zealandlobby and hallways really dimly lit.
Good sized, clean rooms with an onsen downstairs. Location was 10 mins (or less) walk to Nishiki Markets, and less than that to subways, shopping and more neighbourhood eateries than you could poke a stick at.

Lovely, modern hotel, near the underground station and very close to shops, restaurants, etc. Onsen was open until 2am, which was an added benefit Friendly and helpful staff.

JapanI think the lighting in the restaurant is too dark. And the menue is disaster as a fact. Maybe one vegetarian dish would be advisable ! But
When in Kyoto I àlways stay in this hotel because it’s the absolutely the best location. Bus train subway is right there. With much rain in Kyoto there are only a few steps to the subway and the arcade shopping streets or take the subway to Kyoto station department store and huge underground shopping streets. And you will never get wet . Or even Osaka is easy reachable in an hour from near this hotel. Avoid the famous temples there are hundreds of little, unforgettable treasures !

CanadaThe TV plays spooky music when it's powered on, the tatami floor is hard and feels like wood (not sure if it's even tatami in the first place)
Close to Kujo station and a river, few minutes walk to a shopping street. Room is very clean and equipped with many amenities. Staff were ok in English and the checkout process is extremely quick and easy.(just leave your card in a box)

New ZealandThe breakfast buffet isn’t regularly restocked so recommend going early if possible
Comfortable room, great location, beautiful hotel, there are men & women onsen baths for guests which is awesome but we weren’t able to use them due to having tattoos (we don’t mind, we totally respect the culture surrounding that and don’t expect different treatment!) - they do offer small cover up patches that you can purchase at reception but we would need too many for it to be viable

AustraliaThe restaurant downstairs is overpriced and didn’t have many options (we didn’t have breakfast included but stopped for a light lunch). They have a music night on Fridays, but there was a 500 yen cover charge per person which we happily paid. Joined right before the second set started but the music was only for 45 minutes and then the bar closed and we had to leave. Probably wouldn’t have paid the cover charge in hindsight! The location was fairly convenient but the ten minute walk to the station can be a bit of a bother sometimes when you consider how much walking you’ll be doing to see all the sights!
Room was clean and relatively spacious. The king bed is two singles put together, but we didn’t mind that at all. Loved the tatami floor, wasn’t expecting that and gave it more of a Japanese feel. We found a few good bars in the area that were much less crowded than the Gion/Pontocho areas with just as much charm.
