Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Costa RicaLike in Japan, everywhere you need to walk to the stations, but it was centric none the less.

United KingdomSmall rooms, little bit cramped with suitcases. The hotel staff are nice but the restaurant waiters were slow and inattentive even when quiet.
We loved the onsen bath, this is really nice to relax in the evening. The room was very clean. The breakfast is really good - there is a huge selection of Western and Japanese options available.

AustraliaWhilst it had a large bed it took up most of the space. Only one of us could really be moving around. No room for suitcases. Had to put mine directly behind entrance door.
Location was good. Central point to see sights and good eating options close by.

SwedenBreakfast. It is a catastrophe. It should be served between 6 and 9:30 but if you arrive after 8, forget it. The buffet will be mostly empty. If you ask the personal to fill up stuff, they might do it, or just will tell you that it is sold out. I have never waited 10 minutes for a coffee at breakfast buffet ever. And noone speaks English. I mean noone. Very strange in a place what mostly accomodates people who cannot speak Japanese.
Looks really cozy! Close to the city, not too expensive.

AustraliaThe floor we were on had a smoking room, which meant that all the hallways smelt like smoke. There were 3 or 4 smoking rooms through the property, but only one laundry with 2 washers and 2 dryers.
The property was in a good location, though you did have to walk 10-15 minutes to get to tourist locations. There are a lot of restaurants around and the area and a short walk to 7/11.

NetherlandsStaff could be more hospitable. They should offer cheaper breakfast. Eating breakfast outside of the hotel is better quality and more value for money. The rooms could also be cleaner, the exhaust in the shower room was covered in thick dust and the table in the main part of the room was not clean. 1 day prior to our arrival new google reviews appeared regarding stolen items and the staff not being helpful so we kept all our stuff in our locked suitcases as no safes are present in the hotel.

AustraliaThe Blue Books Café was hopeless. Its staff inexperienced. It let the place down. How can a hotel like that have no sake?! Run out! Two nights in a row. How can they offer fish & chips and apologise for no fish?!! How can a Japanese restaurant not offer any form of sushi or sashimi?! Even the coffee was average
The location was great. The reception people are wonderful.

GermanyUnfortunately a very unpleasant experience! There were four of us (2 double rooms) in this hotel. The first impression as well as the location of the hotel were really very good. On departure, however, we unfortunately discovered that two valuable items had been stolen from one of the rooms (ladies' blazers and earrings, each from a luxury brand). Unfortunately, the hotel staff was absolutely uncooperative and had no interest in supporting us. The manager of the hotel unfortunately does not speak a word of English, which made conversation almost impossible.

United Arab EmiratesHousekeeping could be improved. They only come every 3rd day unless you request with the sign on your door BEFORE 10am. They left coffee cups multiple times unwashed because there was coffee still inside the cup.. so in short housekeeping can be more thorough. The cafe/resto there the staff needs additional training. One night it felt like quite junior staff were on board and they were overrun with just 2 of them so management could do some additional training, they were too busy but not working effectively. Food is more western based and isn't bad. The beef curry though had only 2 pieces of.meat inside, so that was disappointing but overall food is good. Breakfast buffet is very sparse towards the end. 930 is last order but you would be lucky to get a full selection of things past 9 as they are left to run out. Breakfast was good overall
They have a public bath/onsen which is nice to use. The rooms are traditional style. As usual in Japan they are quite small. Also a common thing I have noticed here is plumbing is a bit iffy in places and we had 2 rooms. Both had a bit of a smell in the bathroom from the drains or plumbing. The location is great,.closeby to the markets and the metro. Shops closeby a d the hotel has a coin laundry and microwave so for the more budget conscious like us.. you can buy stuff from the Lawson or 7/11 nearby and eat in your room

United KingdomSurfaces in the room and bathroom were quite dusty, and there was dust in the air in the room which triggered allergies. The bathroom was also a little grimey. Despite this, would consider staying here again.

SpainOur rooms were very dirty. We had booked for 3 nights and I informed the reception staff that our room was dusty and the toilet dirty, so I requested a more thorough cleaning. They made a second attempt to clean up but the toilet remained really dirty, so the second day I complained again and this time they cleaned up better. On our third morning, when I went to buy the breakfast tickets at the front desk, they said they would not charge us as a compensation for the inconveniences, which was a nice gesture we appreciated.

United KingdomUnfortunately this property did not feel clean. It was very dusty in the rooms and the toilet was not clean. There was a bad odour in the bathroom. The layout of the room is odd and just creates for an awkward room. The table placemat of the room was totally old and frayed and was just dated. It’s hard to describe all the negatives except easiest way is that we did not feel comfortable there and wanted to leave but we could not find anywhere else available in Kyoto.
It was well air conditioned.

SingaporeLooks nice on pictures but the room was really small and abit claustrophobic. Their onsen makes up for it. They have a laundry area- we had to queue for it so do plan your time accordingly. Location wise, its good enough. Almost 90% covered if you are headed towards nishiki market which was useful for us as it was raining. Its not too far (and not too near) from nishiki market. There is no lift as you exit the underground platform nearest to the hotel if you are taking the train. So do take the exit before that and walk from the streets if you are carrying luggages. The room was quite dusty. I think its because of the dark decor which made the dust more obvious. The table and chairs really restrict your movements and space. Toilet was very small too. You're really paying for the onsen.
