Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

France-
Everything about our stay was amazing. The vibe was very cozy, relaxing and intimate in a traditional Japanese way, which was exactly what we were looking for. The big room with the small garden, confortable bed and huge hot bath, was particularly enjoyable after a day spent exploring Kyoto. The food was truly delicious from beginning to end. The breakfast and dinner were 2 of the best meals in our entire 4 weeks stay in Japan. Highly recommend to try both meat and fish options. They were also very accommodating for one of us who is vegetarian and were able to provide a delicious experience as well. If you are into deserts and sweets, you have to try their amazing ice cream and Japanese sweets which were served at the lounge and during tea time. Very nice late night snack as well. More than anything else, the service was the highlight of our stay. We had a small issue with our room at the beginning of our stay and the staff members went above and beyond not to let it impact our stay. They were all very kind and made our stay at the gosho memorable

United StatesNothing really.
The Kashiwa Mochi room was fantastic, with a little outdoor garden (and a private outdoor bath) in the middle separating the bedroom from the living room. Amenities were more than adequate. Meals were prepared right in front of us and were delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly.

United StatesA little pricey for the room and there were bugs everywhere inside of the room. Very unpleasant for the amount of money spent. There were some insects in the bed.
Love the accommodations and staff.

United StatesThe dinner was amazing, but we forgot to ask ahead of time for the breakfast. I'm sad we didn't get to experience the breakfast before we left.
Hotel Nazuna Kyoto Gosho is not just a place to stay, but a luxury cultural experience. This was one stop on our honeymoon and it was a highlight. While the hotel is perfection the staff are the best part. Natsuha made us a traditional Kyoto meal and we had a lovely conversation. We highly recommend having the dinner and in room messages. Natsuha wrote us a sweet card and gave us some gifts to celebrate our honeymoon and we were so touched by this gesture. We couldn't recommend this hotel more.

LatviaThe only thing that troubled me during the stay was that the window in our room was too loud for me to have a good sleep during the night. But I have a light sleep, so maybe others wouldn't notice that.
Our stay at Nazuna Kyoto Gosho was such a great experience. This hotel has its meditative and calming atmosphere that is worth every cent of the price. The room is so interesting, authentic yet well designed and has many great small features such as a great scent, nice lighting and a minibar full of nice drinks. The bathroom was exceptional and had this great bath that I enjoyed relaxing in. I felt like in a movie there. And yet this is not the best part!!! The food - oh my! Both the dinner and breakfast is prepared for you individually at the table and the staff spoke such good English (very rare in Japan!) that you can enjoy their company and have a nice talk. The food was out of this world - it was so good and interesting. It really felt like this hotel has thought about every little detail so much that the stay is a whole experience!

United StatesWould not change anything
The breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast. Many items that Americans do not typically eat for breakfast, liked grilled fish or vegetables. But it was delicious and the presentation was stunning.

What an incredible experience! We stayed one night at Nazuna Kyoto Gosho and everything from the service to the comfort and delicious food were beyond our expectations. We booked a private bath session and it was the most relaxing experience. The hotel staff are all very kind and helpful, the bed was super comfortable and room was so serene with a garden view and relaxing bath. The breakfast was one of the most enjoyable meals we've had this whole trip. I would highly recommend staying here, we absolutely loved it!

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Nazuna during our visit to Kyoto, and it truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their warmth and attentiveness made our stay incredibly comfortable. The room was immaculate and thoughtfully arranged, providing all the comforts we needed after long days of exploring the city. The attention to detail in the decor added a touch of elegance, making it a cozy retreat. We were also impressed by the hotel's peaceful ambiance, which offered a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The traditional Japanese touches throughout the hotel added to the overall experience, making it feel authentically Kyoto. Thank you to the wonderful team at Hotel Nazuna for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely return on our next visit to Kyoto!

Where to start! Highly recommend. The staff immediately make you feel welcome and can help with any questions that come up about the place, your experience, or Japan in general. The rooms are beautiful and well equipped. We did breakfast and a light bath show which were both excellent experiences. Oh, and the floors are heated.

United StatesI wish we stayed longer!
The atmosphere was amazing, just what we were hoping for. Very relaxed and comfortable, nice big bath in the room. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. They were also a great opportunity to try some new local foods and talk to the staff preparing the meals. Everyone was extremely friendly, from the the woman who checked us in, to Kai who cooked dinner and talked with us for 2 hours, and the woman who made us breakfast and talked with us the next morning (sorry I don’t remember everyone’s name!). Location was close to the subway, but also felt removed from the bustle of the city. One of the highlights of our trip!

United StatesIt was very expensive- perhaps we would've felt it was better-value if we could've stayed an extra night or two, since we unfortunately felt quite rushed checking out. But of course it is not the hotel's fault they're so popular!
One of the most luxurious hotels we've ever stayed at. The staff was so warm, gracious, and accommodating, and made us feel really at home. I loved the welcome drinks, the complimentary bar and late night snacks, and the layout of our room. It was an absolutely beautiful place- I just wish we could've spent more than one night (which was all that was available during the week of our stay). We also forgot some times at check-out and the staff had it all wrapped up and waiting for us to retrieve the next day! Truly splendid service

Bags of character and charm. It definitely met our expectations of the old Japanese Inn (Ryokan). The special Sukiyaki Dinner was unforgettable as was the traditional Japanese breakfast.
