Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PhilippinesThe walls are fairly thin (as with most Tokyo hotels), so if you are a light sleeper, this might be a bit of a challenge.
The hotel is located in a quiet street in Asakusa, about a five (5) minute walk from Exit A2a of Asakusa Station. The host was also welcoming, explained the house rules, and helped me with my luggage upstairs. The room was good for what I paid. I also could see Tokyo Skytree from my window so that was a bonus. I didn't have to wait for a shower or toilet despite being shared with other guests.

United KingdomThere is not anything negative to say about my experience at Nomad Hostel East! Although there were a couple of days of construction in the shower rooms, there were accommodations put in place to negate the effects it would have on the stay.
I had a complicated travel from the airport into Asakusa, but the owners of the hostel very kindly accommodated my ever-changing check-in time as I kept them up to date on my journey. When I arrived, they were quick to come check me in, give me a tour of the place, and only left once all of my questions/concerns were answered. There were plenty of facilities on my floor, including three shower rooms, three sinks, and a separate toilet each for men and women. To my understanding, most floors of the hostel shared some variation of these facilities. The rooftop washing machine and dryers were incredibly useful, and the hostel provides the necessary detergents. The location is ideal, as there are many convenience stores around, and it is a quick 15-ish minute walk to the Asakusa tourist attractions such as the shrine, Don Quijote, there is a Uniqlo, and many restaurants to choose from in the area. The Sumida River is beautiful both in the day and night, and a great walking or resting destination.

United StatesReally the only thing was Bathroom fan in the summer heat.
The location was nice. A almost 10-minute walk from the shrine/shopping district. Depending on the station and which line, 5-10 minute walk. It was a great place for the price it was listed for.

United Statesno sinks on the third floor to wash your hands after using the restroom was very annoying.
I really liked the location- only 9 minutes to the metro and it was safe and quiet. I really liked the kitchen facilities and the very cheap laundry that was available.

CanadaThere was a weird cheese smell that came from the hard surfaces of things in our room. The walls or something must have been cleaned with a stinky cloth. But you get used to the smell. Everywhere else smelled good, it was just weird in our room. Also the doors opening and closing as other travellers leave in the morning are noisy, so bring ear plugs.
Comfortable beds, really nice host, many showers, amazing location, somewhat close to a really nice, big, red temple and a short walk to train station, and a very nice large city river to walk along. It is a chill area. The price is very fair for what you get!

TaiwanPoor air circulation. When someone has cooked in the public space, the smell doesn't dissipate even after a long time. There's also a smell in the room. The room lighting is dim, it could be a little brighter.
The spot, staffs and the facilities are nice. Except for the AC.

Malaysia- location - clean room, toilet and shower area - cheap stay
This is one of the cheapest place to stay in Tokyo and it’s totally worth it. I booked one room for 2 persons for 6 nights and we had a comfortable stay. The location is really convenient as the Hostel is only 7 minutes walk to the Asakusa station (exit A2a). On your way to and fro the station and the Hostel, you would enjoy the quiet city view of Asakusa and the beautiful Sky Tree tower which lights up at night. The room i booked had an extra single bed which is nice. The shared toilet and shower room are always kept clean. No smell. shampoo and body shampoo are provided so you need not buy any. Although its not stated at this page, I am happy to share that the Hostel does provide iron should you need to iron wrinkle clothings. My husband and i enjoyed meeting people from other countries at the common area in the Hostel. Its a dorm style hostel so many were young travellers who didn’t mind staying in a cheap dorm hostel. The room walls were thin so you can hear movements of people going up the stairs, entering and leaving their rooms. Other than that, you won’t be able to hear people talk so that’s a plus. During the time of our stay, we were never disturbed with unnecessary loud noises and I can say from this experience that most tenants staying at the Hostel are considerate and mindful over the comfort of others. The Hostel is very near to the Senso-ji Temple. Only 10minutes by foot. Asakusa is also very close to Akihabara (centre for anime lovers to shop for anime merchandises) so my husband and I managed to visit Akihabara twice because of the short distance. Overall, our stay at Nomad Hostel East was very pleasant and we would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place that is cheap and near the train station.

FranceThe common showers were not that clean. They were cleaned once per day, but since a large number of people are sharing them, they were always full of hair etc. The walls are super thin, you even hear the phones vibrating in other rooms.
Pretty good location - direct connection with Narita Airport, 20min from the train station, direct line to Shibuya. Sensō-ji temple is walking distance away. Rooms have air conditioners - quite important in summer. Two laundry machines and a dryer are also available.
