Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. It did get a bit noisy in the evening but thankfully it didn't last all night. No top sheet and only one pillow per person.

No heating during our stay.
Luggage storage before check in and after check out, which is convenient. Our request for a quiet room was fulfilled by offering us a room facing wall of another building instead of road facing. No road traffic or other noise even though the hotel is located in the Gion area. Very convenient location to explore around.

The hotel is small but clean and nice. Its location is a bit nice. I would recommend it. There is only one problem, next to it there is a kimono rental shop, don't go there because they lie about the prices and a lot. First they told us to rent a kimono with a haircut for 30 minutes, it would cost us 5500 and 8800 yen, it depends on the kimono we choose, but then after they dressed us they wanted 16500 yen instead of 8800 per person. Don't go there, there are many shops for renting kimono at much cheaper prices even than the official ones, but then we understood

This was a great location and very worth the price. Smaller room but it had all that we needed as we spent most of the time out of the place anyway. Right near major subway lines and close to temples and street markets. Only issue was there was no AC so the room was uncomfortably hot at night.

The distance to a smoking room was a 5 minute walk. Not sure what's involved in becoming a public smoking spot but the hotel should definitely consider itm

in winter i was told if the room is too hot from the central heating, i must open the window. this is fine during the day, but at night the street noise can be a little distracting.

Hallway and rooms have a very odd musty smell to them that is very pungent initially. I found leaving the window open during the day or running the A/C helped alleviate the smell for the most part. Mini fridge is very loud so will need to be turned off when sleeping. No provided tea or coffee was unusual but not much of an issue.
Room was quite large for Japan standards and location was very good, only downside is needing to catch 2 separate lines just to get to Kyoto station which can be annoying if taking luggage. Bed is very comfortable.

The amenities were very basic - you definitely get what you pay for with the cost of the room being so low. The room was very small and had a bit of an off smell that we couldn't get rid of. The window is frosted glass so it feels a bit claustrophobic. There is a very small kitchen area but it's not large enough to sit and with the rooms being so small there isn't anywhere to take a break if you don't want to be out all day.
The location and price of this hotel is great. It is right beside the major train stations and right in the middle of Kyoto's beautiful Gion area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The laundry was nice to have and a very good price. Overall I would stay again for the price and location!
