Great experience! The futons were quite comfortable, the hotel was super clean, and the shared bathrooms were great, even though showers were only on one floor. But the cleaning was spotless, with free amenities, free room wear, and nice staff. Great Wifi! Also luggage storage was free :) 20 mins walk from Kyoto's old town, very close to the metro and train station. Would definitely recommend it!

Unfortunately I couldn't get a room on the women-only floor so had to get the lift 3 floors to the women's bathroom, and the showers always seemed to be busy whenever I wanted to use them (and during high-traffic times were not particularly clean).

Room was compact but clean, comfortable and quiet. I liked that there was a QR code you could use to check occupancy levels of showers and availability of washing machines. Also appreciated the pyjamas for guests to borrow. Lobby area was nice enough, and staff were friendly and helpful. Best aspect for me was probably the location: subway station right outside, just one stop from the main station, several restaurants just a few metres away, a 7/11 across the street, and reasonable walking distance from lots of things I wanted to see and do!

Maybe a gas dryer would be nice as the in-house washing machine cum dryer didn't dry fast enough.

Great location right next to subway. In house clothes available for you to wear to save yourself from more laundry. Great design and all things are where they are supposed to be.

Small, with fold out beds. Clean, but quite cramped (especially with luggage, although some storage space underneath raised floor). Only stayed one night, so didn't spend much time in the room. Shared bathroom down the hall, very clean, showers and sink/vanities.

The location is great since it's just one station away from Kyoto station. There are lots of good restaurants and convenient stores around the area. Our room is great. although its a bit small compare to other hotel but our bed is great. Staff are very helpful and they have storage room where you can leave your luggage after your checkout. Amenities are super okay.

Personally for us, we felt we couldn't quite spread out in the room

Comfy and cozy rooms. Adjustable curtains and ambient light to make it comfortable to sleep at any point in the day. Located very close to Subway station and near eating places. Also enjoyed the breakfast at Yayoiken, which if opted in the package, you get a choice of different set menus at. Bathroom amenities was also clean.

There are two different pocket hotels!! I walked into the wrong one as in Google maps it was the only one with the name in english. Oops! This hotel is in Google as THE POCKET HOTEL 京都烏丸五条. Make sure you go to the right one. The shower is on a different floor but this is a cubicle room so actually very private. No housekeeping unless requested could be an issue for someone but I don't tend to have rubbish in my room so it wasn't a problem for me.

Super close to the metro, a Macdonald's and a conbini so very easy to set yourself up. The lack of toilets in the room were not an issue as toilets were on the same floor. The room was small but no smaller than typical in Japan and there is space under the bedroom store luggage.

If you're travelling with larger suitcases, opening them in the room will require some logistics (eg. closing the futon bed first). If you're travelling with only backpacks (as we did), storing your luggage in the room and opening it won't be an issue.

The facilities and amenities provided were really good and everything is thought through. During our trip in Japan this was the best hostel we've stayed in and I'm highly recommending this place. The washing/drying machines were great as well, you could set up a code for opening, which was useful.

The stair at gojo station if you have a big laguage will became challenging. The room not spacious for us 4 person but what did you expect from hostel?

The bathrooms being on seperate floors were a different concept but very manageable. Wouldn’t recommend staying more than 3-4 nights without having a bathroom in your room.

There is no mini fridge in the room so you have to buy your next day breakfast at morning if you want to eat something chilled.

The hotel is within a 1 minute walk from Gojo station with many restaurants and konbinis as well, so we had everything we needed close to us. The room was small but it was totally fine, the size is the regular Japanese room size. We had enough space to put our stuff and also open two big luggage at the same time. The shower rooms are divided nicely, and amenities are also provided in the shower and in the powder room as well. We did not hear any of our neighbours during our stay, which was great.
