Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaGreat location, clean, facilities are new and the price is great. Rooms are small as suggested by the name of the hotel, but for us it was absolutely perfect since we wanted to keep our nightly cost low. Since it’s quite new, I didn’t feel like we were in such a small space.

NetherlandsWhile the Pocket Hotel is perfect for short stays, it might not be the best option for longer trips. The compact size and minimal amenities could feel limiting after several days.
The Pocket Hotel in Kyoto offers an unbeatable price, making it one of the most budget-friendly accommodations in the city. The value for money is exceptional, especially considering the hotel's cleanliness, which is truly impeccable. Despite the small size, the 7 square meter room for two people feels surprisingly spacious and not at all claustrophobic, which exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is another major advantage, being conveniently situated for exploring Kyoto. Overall, the Pocket Hotel is an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers looking for a clean, well-located, and efficient place to stay in Kyoto.

United StatesBed was kind of uncomfortable and I would have liked a little more space for suitcases
Very clean and convenient facilities. Showers and bathrooms are shared, but are easy to access and clean. Lots of tourist friendly things like currency exchange/ATM in lobby. Room is small but perfect for the price if you’re a light traveler.

BrazilOur room was very small compared to the rooms on the other floor, but that's okay. Our stay was comfortable, and I have no complaints.
We loved the hotel, the bathroom was amazing. If I return to Kyoto, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. I will recommend it to everyone.

AustraliaThe room was very claustrophobic but it did have a lot of storage room under the bed area.
It was extremely self sufficient especially staying on the female only level which is where the toilets and showers were. There was also a McDonalds directly next to it as well as a 7/11 across the street! And if you’re strong enough the walk from Kyoto station isn’t that crazy.

United StatesThis spot is perfect for travelers on a budget who also value a good location. It was very close to the Gojo metro station, as well as a few restaurants. For what you get, I would say it is worth it.

AustraliaI had a large suitcase, so that did make the room a little cramped as it wouldn't fit under the bed. The mattress was also quite thin, which became a little uncomfortable after the first night.
Super close to the subway station entry (almost right outside the door), self check-in/out is available which was very easy. The luggage storage area is also very good, quite large and very secure. The bathrooms were fantastic! So clean, heaps of showers and complimentary items such as tooth brush kits. Also, such a great idea to have the towel bags to carry your belongings to/from the shower.

IrelandThe room was small as expected but not a big deal. Also the showers were only on one floor but not a big deal also. There was no fridge. It was a 20 min walk from a main area.
The showers were definitely the highlight of our stay, so clean and so many stalls. The powder room was very nice to get ready. The hotel was very modern and clean. The staff were the nicest staff I have ever encountered. We got new towels every day which was very nice. The mattress was comfy and the air con was good.

The place was perfect, we wanted the experience of a capsule hotel, but wanted to sleep in a double bed. The pocket hotel brings aspects of a capsule hotel (free to use pyjamas, slippers, toiletries etc) but also has the luxury of your own room. The shared bathrooms were lovely, with entire shower areas instead of just stalls, hairdryers, nice shampoo/body wash, q-tips and more. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. It has a main subway right outside the front entrance.

AustraliaThe place was amazing but I wouldn’t recommend it to solo travellers who want to meet people. It was my own fault for not doing my research but it was more of a place for groups or solo business people. Not solo travellers who are looking to meet lots of people.
The facilities were incredible. The bed was comfortable enough. I found that I got really good value for money. Also was very secure and I felt very safe.

AustriaThe shower rooms are located only on one floor, so you have to get the lift to get there. But there are many showers, so even at a busy time you‘ll find a vacant shower. And they were alway clean. You can‘t open or even look out the window.
best about it is the great location, from where you can explore the city. clean and tidy facilities.

Hong KongSpending more than five days here/more time in the room may be depressing as the rooms are very very small with only space for the bed and a bit of ground to put your suitcase. The laundry machines (400 yen for washing + drying) did not dry my clothes very efficiently.
Really good value for an amazing location. Communal bathrooms are very clean with all of the facilities you need including cotton buds, toothbrush/toothpaste, hairdryers and even face wash. You are also able to get a lot of privacy in your own shower booth. Lobby is a nice communal area where many guests lounge with couches, work counter, TV and drinking water + a vending machine for those who want other drinks.
