Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FinlandThe rooms are very small, even when I booked a double for me and my sister, so big suitcases can be a problem. We also had a problem with the booking of the double room, but the staff were helpful and fixed it right away.
The Gojo-station is right outside the hotel and the breakfast restaurant is three doors down. The shower rooms were clean and spacious and despite the small size of the rooms, we immensely enjoyed our stay at the Pocket Hotel. I would absolutely stay there again the next time I'm in Kyoto.

New ZealandThe bins in the hallway where you take your rubbish were very small and overflowed easily with the number of people staying on our floor.
The accommodation is located right next to several of the exits from Gojo Station (subway) and across the road from a 7-Eleven. The entranceway/common area was nice and clean at all times. The mattresses in the room folded up easily and there were charging ports and reading lights right by the head of the bed. Definitely a small room but that can be seen in the property photos so it was expected.

MexicoYou get what you paid, the room is small (there is nothing but futons and a small table) but there was no issue since most of our time was spent outside and we only used it to sleep. You also need to be careful of sound since walls are thin and you can hear loud steps on the hallway.
I liked that it was a couple of minutes from Kyoto Station and Gojo station was right in front. In Gojo station you can buy the day bus and train pass, so you dont need to go far in order to obtain it. Additionally, there was a Yoshinoya next door (2 min walk) where you can have a quick and delicious breakfest. The shared bathrooms have all you need (shampoo, toothbrush, etc) and wifi works perfect.

United StatesI wished there was some kind of mini fridge to store food in the rooms. Or even a common area fridge.
One of the cleanest shared bathrooms and showers. It was located right in front of a subway station which was very helpful, although subways aren't the best ways to get around in the city. Our stay included breakfast which was available at a restaurant next door. I was initially concerned about the rooms being small but we managed and honestly were never there enough to feel crowded. We did laundry twice while there and didn't have any issues.

New ZealandWe had the twin room and it was huge. A very comfortable space to stay and very clean facilities. Only a microwave and hot water for the kitchen but close to combini and eating places. Good value for money if you want your own space. About a 15min walk to train station.

JapanMen's facilities on the ground floor is a bit inconvenient, walking through the lobby to and from the shower.
Lovely little room, plenty space for 1 or two since you'll not be inside much. Good website to check Shower availability etc. Felt secure and safe. Kyoto tower view (very lucky, don't think many rooms had)

NetherlandsI liked everything.
It was very clean and very comfortable for this price. The room is small, but in this city you want to explore and just come and fall asleep peacefully, and for this reason, it was great.

SpainThe mattress was a bit thin for me. Since I had a double room all to myself, I placed both mattresses on top of each other, and it was much better.
Small but cozy room. It would be somewhere between a capsule hotel room and a traditional hotel room. The shared bathrooms and showers are very spacious and clean. The location is excellent and close to the subway. There is a 7-Eleven right across the street

United KingdomNothing - it all works well.
From concept to execution, it works perfectly. A twin room is ideal for a solo traveller, allowing extra space. Each room has an extractor fan, an air conditioner/heater and windows. The key cards are gender-coded, so men cannot come onto the womens’ floor or into the womens’ toilet and shower space, and vice versa. The amenities are excellent - private locking shower and changing cubicles within the larger shower zone, hair dryers, towels - you never feel cramped in the shared spaces. Pocket Hotel has several locations and all are good value for money and somewhere you could comfortably stay for even a longer period of time.
