Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Lower floor rooms looking at the back feel a bit crammed, but we asked to be transferred on a higher floor with a more open view and the staff was very helpful !
Staff was super friendly and facilities amazing. There’s also a bar on the ground floor to grab coffee or a drink at night. The area is very nice with all the good restaurants near by, stores and bars at walking distance. Also close to metro.

Small room, hotel tried to charge for the extra services We requested - luggage storage (2000 yen per baggage) which is relatively high. And I asked the hotel to receive the package for me on my check out day and we will pick it up later, but they requested for the extra money, finally they waived this charges because I left my baggage there which is already charged
Good location, nice hotel style, honest staff - the housekeeper helps me to keep the watch & ring I left in the hotel

the room was super small the cleaning instructions could have been given at the reception when we arrived. because they are not so noticeable in the room. and hence we were confused as what to do the fitness center was very small

it was hard to communicate with staff at times the breakfast was not that varied it was hard to find something to eat as a vegetarian. same food everyday.
it was in a continent location lots of amenities to use the rooms were big in size compared to other places I have stayed.

great location for getting around Kyoto, bus stop very close. My room (twin beds) was perfect, kettle and teapot, mini fridge with water supplied, view out onto the street, Good shower, and in the lobby they have cold and hot drinks available

The entrance to the hotel was a little confusing. It looked like the back of the building. The signage did help.
The location was great. There were places to eat nearby and best part that it was walking distance from the JR train station. The staff was nice. The lobby was very inviting and made it look like a newer style hotel. The bathrooms were clean and so were the rooms.

Bed mattress too hard for my Taste. Room could be isolated better from the noise of the traffic outside.
Lots of space in the room and good room layout, e.g. by separating the toilet and shower into two separate small cabin-like rooms. Nice view from the upper rooms.

The only thing I would change would be the blinds in the room dont keep much light out in the morning. Also cleaners are on request.
The hotel was clean and room for 2ad/2ch was spacious, very modern hotel, kept clean and quiet. The hotel had a free onsen which was clean and perfect for tourist use. We used the washing machines which worked well, the dryer had to be used a few times. Location was good, close to a few public transport stations, close to 711s etc so easy to pop out and get food and snacks.
