“You should definitely pin this place on your travel map. The atmosphere? Unreal. Surrounded by misty mountains, cold winds, and pure camping vibes—it felt like a slice of heaven. A small hike led us to the campsite, where kerosene lamps lit up one of the coziest nights I’ve ever had. No modern technology, no distractions—just nature, warmth, and good company. And that sunrise? Hands down, the best I’ve ever witnessed. This place isn’t just a destination—it became a part of me. Huge thanks to the super friendly staff for treating us so well. This wasn’t just camping, this was a 5 billion star hotel experience.”
“Very nice friendly person. They make really good breakfast and in the evening they made a very nice dinner soup and the day after a curry. Price was correct for what we had. The only attention point is the small bed. It was not comfortable. The big bed was perfect.”
“The staff was so lovely and welcoming! The communal lounge area was clean and presentable. The room though was damp and the blanket smell. I dont think it is washed each time which is a cause for concern. The balcony is beautiful and i enjoyed looking at the views.”
“Very friendly and extraordinarily helpful owner - he knows the region perfectly and gave us a lot of recommendations for trips, transportation and restaurants. The view is amazing, breakfast is also good with lots of fresh fruit. The room was clean, but the whole area is just very misty and moist and you can see and feel that in the room. The windows are not the best so you also hear the street. The train station is very close by. In general I can recommend it, if you want to stay for a few nights. Haputale is a friendly town and great start point to explore the beautiful region, if you look for a less touristy alternative to Ella.”
“Everything was perfect. These are probably the best money we have spent in Sri Lanka. We are on a budget and got the cheapest room, which still felt like a luxury hotel. The view was exceptional, the crew were incredibly helpful and sweet and the breakfast was the best we had gotten yet. Huge recommendation.”
“Such friendly and accommodating hosts, very comfortable bedroom with a gorgeous view. Walkable into town but also tucked away and very quiet. Thank you!!”
“I had a great stay! The guesthouse is run by a retired woman. She is really lovely, loves to chat and makes you feel at home. The room was very clean and hot water/tea/coffee was available. Recommended for small budget!”
“It is Nice cozy small Guest house in the Heart of the Haputale town. Close to the Bus stand Railway station. Many local food Joints around. The Host Lakshan & His Mother is amazing. Caring and attentive yet they respect your privacy.
