Sri LankaThe rate of exchange used for settlement of US 52 was exorbitant tried to charge me @ 330 after a protest dropped it to lkr 321 per $ but even this was high. They claimed it was Bookings.com rate which is a lie because the same morning I checked out of another property in Kandy Eearl's regent where they charged me only @ lkr 310 This is a ploy to extract extra money from guest.

GermanyThe key card kept failing, so the staff would proactively reset it every time I came in to the lobby. The rooms were clean, but clearly need fumigation - when I turn on the light I see many things scurrying in to the gaps between floor and furniture. They seem to come from the shower drain, and my concern was that they might get in to the luggage and I might inadvertently bring them home.
The location on Marine drive is good, and close to many destinations in the city. The beach view was nice. The rooms are huge and the bed was very comfortable. Tea/coffee facilities are available. Bathroom had all necessary amenities. Air conditioning was good. The staff was very friendly. As I did not use the breakfast, bar or restaurant facilities, I can't comment on them.

United KingdomThe whole hotel needs a revamp, fixtures, walls, surfaces all have lots of wear and tear and yellowing or rust. The restaurant was overpriced and didn't offer much choice. The balconies are permanently closed which took away the main attraction.

JapanI was concerned because other reviews said the same thing, but within 30 minutes of our arrival we found a small chavana cockroach in our room (even though we were staying in a superior room). We contacted the hotel front desk and they brought us insecticide, but the response was slow, plus they suspected that we had opened the window in our room (even though we didn't actually open it).
Nice view from the hotel, open-air swimming pool with sea view. It is far from the train station and town center, but it is worth staying just for this. Note that the pool is open until 7 pm (Wish they could stay open a little later). Breakfast is nice indeed but reasonably expensive. Some days are buffet style and some days are selective.

GermanyThe hotel obviously hasn't been fumigated recently. When you turn the lights on, you see things scurrying away. The housekeeping is erratic. - some days they give you two water bottles, the other days just one. Same for the towels. One other inconvenience is that the room key gets deactivated even if you breathe on it. But the staff intercept you in the lobby and reprogram it before you go up, so it's not a big issue. The WiFi has frequent dropouts. There is no WiFi in the lobby, which would be a problem if you are depending on that to call/track an Uber.
The welcome drink was delicious. The rooms are huge. The sea view was excellent. The bed was comfortable, with a very good mattress. There are tea/coffee facilities in room, and a mini fridge. The bathroom is clean, with modern fittings. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they greet you by name.
