Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLike many old buildings in the area, it had very steep stairs, which wasn't a big deal for us, but if you have mobility issues, it could be a challenge. The wardrobe was a very narrow afterthought which did not allow for unpacking a couple's clothes even for 3 nights. Our garret room had a large footprint, but due to the sloping walls, felt a little cramped at the same time. There was no real room to store suitcases and make proper use of the table and chairs.
The location on Grote Markt was fantastic. The restaurant downstairs was great and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room had a comfortable bed and a modern TV. The mini fridge was a welcome addition.

NetherlandsWell firstly the room desperately needed a freshen up. It looked like it had been painted decades ago and it was SO dark. The colour wouldn’t have been so bad if the lighting was adequate, but even with all the lights on, it was still impossible to see anything. Secondly the room would have benefitted from a full length mirror. There was the perfect space on the wall next to the bathroom door, but there was only a small high up mirror there. We were going to a party and had to take photos of each other to see what we looked like! And lastly, the fridge didn’t work. In fact, anything in it actually became WARMER, so clearly there was something very wrong with it. But apart from these few issues, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay 😃
The location was absolutely amazing! Very central and close to bars and restaurants and shops.

United StatesThe room was clean but the rug was dirty and the blanket on the bed should be discarded. It was disgusting. Front room was noisy in the morning. Start setting up chairs around 6:00 am.
Room was very pleasant. Huge windows.

United KingdomThe stairs up to the room are steep and ridiculous. However, so are many places in Holland. This made it hard to get luggage up to the room. However, staff did offer to help. The room was very warm and had to put windows up. No water put into room which I feel should be complimentary. Stayed for 3 nights, no clean towels bought to room - however I didn’t go out of my way to ask. I feel that for the price I payed for the room I could of stayed in the centre. It was abit overpriced for what it was. However it was a clean room, with friendly staff and a fair location.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location was great, 10 min walk to train station and 10 min train into Amsterdam Centre. I emailed the hotel beforehand to ask if they could put up balloons for my partners birthday. They went out of the way to do this, and only charged me for the decorations, it looked great and was how I described. This was very kind of them.

CanadaLighting too dim. Could use more counter/table space in the room, rather than the feathery deco. The door was squeaky and the main door was jammed and difficult to open trying to get out. Mirror in bathroom was too high, it was above my head. set for 6 foot tall people).
Location. Right in the centre of the square. The staff was nice.

FranceBut the light bulb inside the room was not very strong and suggest you to replace the TV with a smart one. I’m not saying this as negative just a recommendation ☺️
The room was quite big with almost all amenities. The bed was very clean and comfortable. Recommend this place to stay. Centrally located and the train station is a 10 minute walk away and has a beautiful view with riverside houses around ❤️

AustraliaThe walls were super thin - I woke up at 3am one morning because my neighbour was coming home because I thought they were in my room (they weren’t and they weren’t been loud either). There was one 1 power point available to use to charge which was in the bathroom near the sink - not ideal for charging electronic devices.
Great location. Staff were really friendly and helpful (it was convenient for the hotel to be linked to the hotel downstairs for luggage facilities and assistance). Nice decor in the room

United StatesNo easy place to plug things in near the bed, had to unplug a lamp and dig around a bit to find. The stairs up are very steep and narrow, just FYI for anyone who might struggle with that
Room was comfortable, a good size, great location, clean, private.

New ZealandIt's not well signposted - go into the restaurant and they will sort you out. The view from the room was non-existent, but that didn't matter. The coffee machine broke down and leaked. However, when they say on the website that the room is accessed by steep stairs, even by the standards of the Netherlands, these are STEEP stairs and tight ones too - 37 steps or two floors of fun with big suitcases. It was an experience to say the least. If you're travelling with luggage and you're not into hauling loads up (and - worse - down) stairs, you really need to look elsewhere. Having said all this, would I stay at the Bambu again if I was coming to Haarlem? Actually, yeah, quite possibly (though I'll pack lighter next time!)
Almost adjacent to the magnificent Grote or Sint-Bavokerk in central Haarlem, the Bambu Sleep Boutique is ideal for attending events at the nearby PHIL, which was my main reason for travelling to Haarlem. There are lots of eateries and shopping nearby, without the absolute chaos and hustle of Amsterdam. The Haarlem canals are also very underrated. The Sleep Boutique is above the Bambu Haarlem kitchen which serves good food - we ate there and received our first drink free as a welcome gesture on the first night. The food was good too and the restaurant popular. The room itself was at the top of the building with the contours of the roof describing the contours of the ceiling. The bed was comfortable and the shower surprisingly good at the top of the building.

United StatesThe access to the second floor was difficult especially for older people, it may have been in the property‘a description but I don’t recall seeing it. I suggest to post this information in a more visible place on their website.

NetherlandsThe noise is very loud in the weekends from the party downstairs. The noise from outside is very loud in general, because the windows are very thin. The staff is aware of this and that's why there's earplugs waiting for you in the room once checked in. This is a nice gesture.
Very spacious room, modern furniture. The location is GREAT, right on the market square.

NetherlandsIt was rather cold inside. Bed in my room was too far from the radiator (which is the only one in the room). This is the busiest part of the city, and the market starts early (not each day), so be prepared for the noisy surroundings.
(yellow room) Lovely design, a big and clean room. There is a nice view from the window to the busy market square. You can drink your morning drink and observe the city live.
