Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The room felt like a prison cell, the shower separator wasn't good, kept getting water all over the floor from the shower
Convenient, around the corner from most of the good places in Amsterdam

The hostel were very noisy. We could hear the conversations of the neighbour room. Filled with young adults, which is nice. But sometimes they could be very loud and they would pound on each others doors at night, which would sound like they were pounding on your door. Our door wouldn't close fully by itself, so you would have to make sure that you push it fully to make the click sound. Could also use some more plugs by the other beds.
The location was great. You had like 5 minutes to the central station, lived very close to chinatown. Easy to find food in the area and also fine walking distance to De Pijp, Jordaan etc.

There are few bathrooms I had to be on a 4th floor without an elevator Even with these "non-positive" points, the quality/price ratio is excellent, as long as the hostel continues to have cheap prices it will always be an excellent option
If what you are looking for is to be in the middle of the red light district, this hostel is the best option. The quality/price ratio is 10/10 The Hungarian cook prepares an incredible soup in the restaurant of the hostel Very clean 24-hour reception in case you go out partying and arrive late

…but had to wait for bar to be open after 10am check out time til 12pm wasn’t a big deal as the lovely receptionist sold us some beers and let us play pool while we waited!

showers were really small, nothing to store your clothes while showering. Rooms had no storage facilities aswell.

The bathroom was very small and not very clean. The drain of the shower was not working, which made us take showers in the shared bathroom (we paid for a room with private bathroom). To be fair we told them it was not working, and the morning after it was fixed.
Location was amazing - I have absolutely nothing to complaint about it! The hostel is right in the city center, easy access. The room was good and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helped us when needed.

The location is nice but not ideal to stay. Very noisy... Staff is very rude but I don't care. Overall it is ok to stay if you're not a light sleeper like me.
Cleanliness. Easy check in and out. They kept 5 Euro deposit for key and returned back when i checked out. Amazing bar and very friendly bar tender.

We needed a private room and that's what we got. Location is really close to everything, we didn't used de public transportation, just walking.

Reception was very bizarre, unpleasant, rude . Checkout 10am !!!!! The bar was closed even though they advertise a bar!! very very bad experience, worst hostel in years!! Overall dirty too, showers and bathroom not cleaned!! Plenty of better hostel around the city than here!
Noting the place has changed for the worst.

Noise outside is very loud (awful for sleeping), the window very small so no fresh air comes inside ans with this hot summer, it was more than 40 degree with no fan availed!
