Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Like: great location, good kitchen, and seating area Dislike: no storage or lockers in the rooms this meant the 8 bed dorm was tight for space even with only 5 people in it

I loved the vibe here, very youthful. In the room there was a constant loud noise from some type of generator, so i did have to sleep with my noise cancelling earbuds in.

There were no lockers to put personal things in. It made uncomfortable to sleep with things in bed.

The lockers were under maintenance so no possibility to keep your belongings somewhere safe. The restrooms on the third weren’t clean.
The location is ideal - plus you have a quite nice bar below.

The noise from inside is very loud when people or staff go in and out of rooms, or walk in the corridor. So it was rather hard to sleep correctly. The facilities are rather old. In the bathroom, there is no curtain. Instead there is a broom to remove the water... There is no space to put your toiletry bag. In the morning there was no power until the main light switch was turned on, but it was not advised by the staff. Not very nice when you discover that your phone did not charge because of that.
The staff was nice. This is a Hostel in a very lively section of the city, but the room are well insulated for noise from outside. And it was a private room with private bathroom. Water was warm in the shower. There are wooden shutters that make the room rather dark. The bed is confortable. There are many good bars around and it is easy to get around town from the Hostel (metro is about 5min walk).

Returning customer, always good to be back and being greeted by the staff, excellent interaction, solving every query in a flash . I love the location, the area, the lively atmosphere, the cleanliness, the bar service , the over all friendliness ,this is my no 1 choice when travelling to Rotterdam .

The toilet was not very clean Couldn’t close the panel over the window at night
Location is great, and very helpful staff who were friendly and went out of their way to help me find somewhere to post a postcard! Kitchen well equipped also

Room did not have a locker and one person in the room of four was a super loud snorer.
Location is superb and beds are comfortable. Facilities were clean. The staff are very helpful.

The heating in the room is too high. But there are knobs which you can use to control it. Thereafter it comes down to negotiating the level with your roommates.
Very clean facilities and superb location. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

My light bulb was broken, maybe it's bc my bed is right beside the wall so somehow dusty I'm a little bit allergic

Unfortunately, there is not much choice on the number of beds in the room. It would be nice if there was a possibility to make a room for 4 people, for a small company
Actually, it was amazing stay at King Kong Hotel. The location is situated almost in the heart of the city! Despite the noise and crowded seating on the summer terrace below the hostel, no noise was heard in the room.

The shower was a bit fiddly at first. We were only supplied with 2 towel and 2 pillows between us.
The bar was great and the staff were very friendly. The location is slap bang in the middle of the best street in the city. The room was clean and the bed was comfy.
