Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe hotel key was very grimmy and dirty. The bathroom not that clean. The breakfast average with too much dependency and fruit and vegetable which we shouldn't eat. Harb boiled eggs would be nice.
The hotel was like an oasis in the city. Very quiet and clean and a rest from busy Kathmandu.

United KingdomSome standard rooms vary, after being given a dark, noisy and dated standard room, I asked to change to a different one at the same price. I was provided with this. But I would have been disappointed if I'd had to stay in the first one.
Excellent location, helpful polite staff. Has an ATM machine on site, good clean restaurant. Beautiful and peaceful garden area is a wow.

United KingdomWifi was a bit flaky. Also, we made 4 arrangements with the hotel for transport and days out. Only one of these went smoothly - twice there was no car when we had booked this, and a one-day tour was not really up to scratch.
Classic hotel - very atmospheric. Maybe not the best option for the business that I had to carry out (wifi was a bit flaky when I needed it to work), but as a tourist doing a bit of trekking and looking for nice places to eat, the location in Thamel is second to none.

TurkeyIt is in the center, in the streets of Thamel, but as soon as you enter the hotel, all that noise remains outside and gives you a wonderful garden and peace. The hotel staff was very helpful and very friendly and attentive.

BangladeshThe staff seemed pretty aloof about customer service. This is a warning sign for KGH. Also, they charged 3% extra on cards for bill payment which is extortion of travelers. I for sure will not stay in that hotel again.
KGH is a very old establishment and it has rich heritage

BangladeshEvery single day maybe 3/4 times a day power would go off,. Outside my room power was there possibly with generator but no power inside the room rendering it pitch dark specially the bathroom. I think no automatic generator though they mentioned something was wrong with the generator switch but in ten days it was not fixed. Also three days no internet, they mentioned it was giving trouble and maintenance was working on it. Lastly the bill was 3 percent higher than the agreed upon price shown at Booking.com page as i paid by credit card. This was not mentioned anywhere during booking. Also payment had to be made in Rupees so double whammy with exchange rates and foreign credit card!! I think i would have been very satisfied if i had cheaper rooms because the hotel itself is stunning, garden is beautiful but to pay 140 dollars and have no power and internet was disappointing because for that kind of money in Kathmandu, one can stay in a 5 star hotel.
Very spacious room with balcony ( junior suites)fairly clean, ac/heater. Garden area possibly the best in Thamel, a coffee shop Himalayan Java had great coffee. Beautiful cats. Spa and gym also there though i didn't visit. Hot water though takes some time to come for which a LOT of water is wasted but hot water was always available. Free airport pickup a bonus. Balcony overlooked the property but best booked in summer to enjoy sitting outside, too cold in winter. Daily fire lit in the outside eating area was a wonderful experience to enjoy .

United KingdomThe rooms in the old part are a little outdated, but clean and comfortable.
It's a wonderful location in the heart of Thamel, with a good history. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the garden is a perfect place to spend time away from the hustle of Thamel.

United KingdomNot much really , all was very comfortable. Has become a little toward the corporate end of things for solo travellers and large groups can be a bit loud over dinner and dominate the scene with their discussions of conquering the langtang trek ( sorry if that sounds a bit cynical )
The location is great, food excellent and the spa was fantastic. Whilst it may have lost a little of its original mountaineer charm from my last visit in the 1990’s ( big tour groups generally dominate the clientele now with fewer solo travellers) it still retains the peaceful oasis feel in the heart of Thamel.
