Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesOf course, being in NYC, the room was smaller than I would have liked.
For us, the location was perfect -- safe, near many good restaurants and other places we wanted to visit. We love the history of the Algonquin, and even though the hotel has been renovated, they have tried to maintain its importance in New York's literary history.

United StatesRooms were small. Not much that can be done, I’m sure. Loved the $45/day credit although didn’t really get to use it and it pales in comparison to cost of a Merlot glass of wine ($24 per glass).

MontserratWould have liked to have seen a coffee machine in the room as there is no room service. I left early morning and no coffee was available in the lobby as the macine was broken and the urn would not be filled until after I left. Unfortunately when I got home I noticed on the hotel invoice that I was charged for two nights rather than the one night I stayed. A clerical error I’m sure but still it’s rather inconvenient having to follow up on such a matter.
The history of course. I found the atmosphere to be very warm and cosy.

United StatesI didn’t like that there was no in room dining, the prices for breakfast were outrageous (even for NYC standards. I also thought the room was a bit cramped and while we had a window, it faced a brick wall so there was very little natural light
I liked the history of the hotel. It was clean and beautiful.

United StatesWe didn’t like the $30 a day debit added to our bill which had to be used as a credit in the hotel - bar or breakfast.
We liked the beautiful lobby with the coffee station, the decor of the hotel and much of the staff were fantastic! Of course we also loved the house cat.

United StatesWe had nice experience at the bar, with light dinner and drinks, but when we ordered a drink after diner and went to sit at a table… we we told no…. “ it’s a different income stream” you can not bring a drink from the bar and sit here;” so we moved to a different area, and were told the same thing, so we moved to the front of the hotel, the noisiest area (we wanted to avoid), but there, we were told they understood our predicament and invited us to sit. After finishing our glass of wine, we got in the elevator to go to our room. Another couple on the elevator had drinks in their hands, and said to us… we were told to rake them to our rooms , this is an idea I think you should work on need to be improved.

United StatesThe website advertises two restaurants which is untrue. There is one long lobby with a bar in the center. It’s basically a lobby with comfortable seating where you can drink and eat. The website also promotes robes (there was one for two people), a library (finally found it on the second floor, but no books or newspapers), 24 hr coffee but the machine broke three times while we were there for nine nights. Also, the king room had the smallest bathroom we have ever had in a hotel. There was about 3 feet maximum of floor space and the corner shower is pathetic for normal sized people so not sure how large people can close the shower door. Water poured out on the floor so we used all the towels everyday! No place to put your personal things. The small bathroom is ok for few nights but not for a long stay.
The location and overall atmosphere were excellent. Loved the resident cat and the Blue Bar. The food and drinks were very good but expensive.

United StatesWe had some issues with the heating system. But the staff always addressed our needs in a timely manner. Included coming to our room at 2:30 am when the hot air would not turn off and it was it 90 degreees in the room. This issue was rectified within ten minutes of our call to the front dest.
The staff was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and attentive to our requests and questions. The front desk staff were great.
