Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesShowers leaked severely onto stone tile floor, inspite of trying to ensure that everything was sealed when in use and door was not left open to drip afterwards. Water pressure in shower was low but I can live with that considering the age of the hotel. Toilet room window sill was very dirty, good thing we don't use it for anything. Very firm beds, not for me and my husband but many people prefer very firm beds.
The uniqueness of the hotel was charming. Penny Loafer was not on duty while we were there but love the idea of her as a greeter. Love the architecture throughout, shoeshine box as a picnic basket for the continental breakfast, small detail of art work in form of postcard left on bed, high ceilings in rooms, very spacious rooms. We would stay again.

Location and uniqueness of hotel. The continental breakfast from a “shoe box” was genius with the theme of the hotel.

United StatesUnsure why, but the main hotel restaurant was closed during our stay. But plenty of other nearby options, including the hotel's casual Waterstone Pizza with outdoor terrace (very nice!).
Beautifully styled hotel, very welcoming atmosphere. Staff was very professional and helpful. Great Location along the James River in Downtown Lynchburg, within easy walking distance to restaurants along the waterfront. Will stay again if we're in the area.

United StatesTrain horn blaring for a long time many times a night very loudly, the tracks run behind the building. The walls of the old building are so thin that you can and will hear absolutely everything your next door neighbors do and say, especially at night. There seems to be no noise insulation in the walls at all.
Unique setting in an old shoe factory, beautifully preserved. Comfortable beds and spacious rooms.

FinlandVery loud noise of trains whistling throughout the night was very distrurbing and there were no warnings of that beforehand. I literally could not sleep at all during the night we spent there.

United StatesThe interior seem “tired” and not as clean as our stay 4 years ago. Our bedding was very “crumpled”, I just had to hope it had been changed! The lighting was very dim in the vanity area.
I liked the location and the theme of the shoe factory.

United StatesNot much, everything works. Not much variety at gift shop.
The breakfast is serviceable - pre-packaged muffin and apple and yogurt -- not customized and no choices BUT it IS brought to your door! Historic building is fascinating, views off bluff very nice, quiet at night.

United StatesIt does not bother us, but the hotel is close to train tracks. You can get ear plugs at the front desk if the sound might bother you.
We stay at the Craddock-Terry at least once a year. They permit (even welcome) dogs, and have a dog in residence. We enjoy the very large rooms, comfortable beds, well-appointed bathrooms, and the convenient location in downtown Lynchburg.

United StatesMy only criticism was in the bathroom there was a humming in the air that sounded like I had tinnitus, but my partner heard it too. Also, the bed box injured me multiple times! Small complaints.
The breakfast was wonderful, and the bed WAS SO COMFY. It was so nice, and the bathtub was enormous.
