Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Netherlands- No breakfast was included - Thin walls ( and in the bathroom, I could hear the conversations from my neighbors through the ventilation, not really privacy friendly). - No functioning airco (although the hotel provided a temporary solution via the window; downside: I could hear the noise from the streets)
- location is a plus - the rooms are nicely decorated - the bed was comfortable

FranceThe bar/restaurant had one employee out front so service was sloooowww. But the food/coffee was good. No plugs in the main dining room for computer or phone chargers. Too bad but not the end of the world.
Great location, fun decoration, friendly staff. We were in Berkeley for our son's graduation and were able to walk around the campus and find places to eat and even buy shoes! Enjoyed the atmosphere.

United Statesthings were dirty... like the remote had gunk on it, the counters needed to be wiped. My room had no electricity for long enough that my fridge was warm. I just had to call maintenance for them to flip the breaker... but my leftovers were lost.

United KingdomThere were two air conditioning units (one freestanding and quite tacky looking) and a ceiling fan and the room still managed to be boiling somehow. The kettle couldn't reach the plug from where it was located without pulling the tray over the edge. Overall the room felt small and in need of updates. The shower was tiny, and the sink was outside the bathroom in the bedroom. The restaurant was only partially open and there was no breakfast (or room service) on offer. Parking was $35 a night for self parking.
Great location in a quiet part of Berkeley and walking distance from all the great restaurants/shops on College Ave, nice in room toiletries (Malin + Goetz) , and thoughtful and unique artwork/decor.

United StatesWe paid for breakfast, but the hotel does not include that accommodation. They only provided a 25USD credit per room to either a pub or a bakery with limited options. The room was small, one of the power outlets didn't work and we only have three. The bathroom is small and doesn't have an extractor. The hotel does not have travel toiletries such as toothpaste.
The location is close to the UC Berkeley campus. The beds are comfortable and the staff is friendly.

NetherlandsNo soundproofing of windows; shower was terrible. We complained about it, they looked into it and could not solve it. All we got as an answer was we reduced some taxes on your invoices. But main issue was not fixed and the person at the reception was really not interested in talking to us about it.

United StatesWe booked a top floor big king room, and when we arrived, the hotel staff apologized and said that the previous guest did not check out in time for them to clean the room (he left at 10pm), we didn't check in until after 11pm.... then they gave us a very small queen room near the elevator, for $12.00 less than what the king room cost. They gave us a $25.00 credit towards the morning breakfast, but then there was an additional charge of $28.00 for a "destination" fee. We booked this room for my husband's birthday, which was a complete disappointment. This hotel ruined our stay. Also, the throw blanket on the foot of the bed had a red stain on it. Which is gross... and both elevators have a weird raffia/grass mat on the walls and smell bad. If you want a comfortable bed, but everything else is bad, then pay the high expense to stay here. Otherwise, you should rethink your stay.

JapanThe rooms are quite small and the walls are very thin, you can hear the conversations in the surrounding rooms. It was a bussy time and I was kept up late simply becuase the people on the room next to mine were talking, this should be of no fault to them but a very negative reflection of the building / accomodation. Its a very old building clearly, charming but not great for getting rest.
The walking distance to UC Berkeley was nice.
