Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

It was a longer walk to public transportation so we just took Waymo the whole time we were there.
This was a charming hotel that we absolutely loved!

It’s only small but the water pressure in shower wasn’t the best.
Beautiful decorated and designed. Does have a lift which is great for heavy suitcases. Great room, size was big for two people. coffee machine available-in room but coffee was also downstairs every morning from 6am until evening which was perfectct!! Wifi was good too. Felt safe as well.

Staff was friendly including Joaquin,, Samave, Redwood,at reception and. Jonathan who brought me a chair, and Blanca in housekeeping. My 4th time staying. Keep offering the delicious baked cookies. Trader Joe's nearby a recently discovered plus. Toaster and fridge great. I appreciated being lucky with the early check in.

Our stay at Inn a The Opera was great, the people there are incredible and were super helpful when we had questions about directions around the city and so on. The room was great and a truly beautiful vibe throughout the hotel as well.

cute boutique hotel, located in a nice area. secure to get in and out of. staff was so kind giving us cookies and chocolates, loved having accessible coffee 24/7, i loved how warm the room was especially in the SF weather!

Cannot think of a negative.
Breakfast was not included in our price but there was fresh coffee always available in the lobby and it had a complete little kitchenette area which was a huge plus to our stay, with everything you needed.

No real complaints. No food or drink available at the hotel but we were out every night.
Cute hotel with very comfortable rooms and lovely staff. Quiet but central location. Walk out the door and get a stunning view of the Opera House.

The windows could use some retrofitting as you could hear everything going on outside as though the window was open.

Gorgeous boutique style hotel. Beautifully furnished. Room was a suite with kitchenett. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free Tea and coffee available in the lobby. No onsite restaurant (but one is coming) but you and get the most amazing breakfast 2 mins walk away.

My only issue was needing ice. There is no dispenser for guests, so you have to call or text the front desk and someone brings it up. I had to call and text multiple times, waiting about an hour each time, because someone forgot we had called or they didn’t see the text.
Nice staff, beautiful building, lobby & rooms were gorgeous and unique. Highly recommend getting a suite, as the rooms are small, but our extra living space made it the perfect size. Pro tip - there’s a Trader Joe’s just 3 short blocks away, which we didn’t discover until our last day. Mass transit is also very close by, too. I would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the "Inn at the Opera" was great. The room was small, but worked well for us. The staff was friendly, the room clean and quiet. The hotel's location is great - we were able to walk to most places and the immediate area seemed safe. There were several breakfast places close by and coffee was available at the hotel.

We booked at the Inn for our wedding. The staffe upgraded our room to a suite free of charge because we were there for our wedding. The layout was perfect and the cake made of towels with the personalized note and gift basic was very special to us.
