Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI only stayed one night, but found the hotel to be easy, clean, and nicely decorated. There is a nice restaurant and bar which extends out to the pool. I walked from there straight down State street (about a mile) to the fun, nightlife area of Santa Barbara for the evening then took an Uber home. In the morning I was able to run down to the beach from the hotel and take a dip in the pool when I returned.

GermanyThe rooms are a little dated and slightly run down.
Location was definitely a plus. Free parking and just a couple of minutes to the beach by car. Good price in comparison to hotels and motels further down on State Street.

United KingdomA very minor thing - the fridge was off when we arrived but it didn't take long to cool down.
This was a great room - spacious, clean, quiet, separate anteroom with the fridge and microwave by the sink so no gurgling noises at night, small moveable sofa to catch the setting sun, balcony overlooking central courtyard with palms. I thought the restaurant tables in the courtyard would mean it was noisy but it wasn't. We didn't eat at the there but the food looked (and smelt) lovely!

United StatesCONS: the floors, stone tiles, are SO Cold, bring slippers. We had a Deluxe King Room and personally I prefer the Double I had last time. It was much larger but no little sofa.
This is my 3rd stay at The Lemon Tree Inn. Top end of State Street so it’s nice and quiet but you will need your car. There is a market right behind it for whatever you might need. The bed was super comfy. Heat and air worked fine. The TV was great, a new version with several streaming apps already installed, Prime, Netflix, Hulu and a couple others. You just need to sign in if you subscribe. Coffee, little fridge and iron board in the dressing/sink area.

FinlandWe would be happy to have coffee inside room every morning, but unfortunately they were no coffee bags. The hotel needs renovations in some places, but for that money it was Ok. If you have a limited budget, this hotel is for you.
I liked the location which matches the price. My aim was to play golf and visit the downtown, and the hotel was in the middle of the way. The hotel location was good for my aims. It was pleasant to enjoy the pool in the middle of Appril. The staff was attentive and helpfull. The cleaning service was much better than expected. Each room has a balcony which allows enjoying the palms in the internal yard.

United StatesThere were very loud birds outside the hotel room that woke me up both mornings. This was quite annoying. Maybe a different room would not have encountered that problem.
The beds were very comfortable. The room was a good size and had a mini fridge and coffee maker. The hotel is old but the landscaping is very pretty and it was clean.

United StatesRoom was far from the pool. I did not request handicap access so shower flooded bathroom every day. I was given the only room without a window. The hotel was only half booked. Not happy with the room I was given. Very dark. No view. The curtain on the "patio" door had something gross on it. I hate to think what it was.

United StatesOur room was loud - not well insulated. We could hear opening and closing doors all night which was a bit disruptive. The outdoor heated pool was not heated as advertised which was disappointing. We also had to wait over 15 minutes to encounter a staff member to check in when we arrived at 7pm - as no one was at the reception desk.
The property is not centrally located to downtown Santa Barbara but for adventurous walkers it’s a nice 1 hour stroll to the wharf. Alternatively the bus system is easy to use, cheap and a stop is located right outside the hotel. The restaurant on site had great pizza and drinks and the central courtyard was a beautiful place to spend the evening.

United StatesThe walls are pretty thin so I was able to hear our neighbors conversation and snoring. The cleaning crew also came in very quickly after barely finishing their first knock so we were taken quite aback by that.
The room was a great size for just me and my partner. It had a desk and couch, and the perfect view from our balcony.
