Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe AC unit in the room made very loud noises so it couldn't be used at night. Couldn't open the windows either since there weren't any screens. Discovered in the morning the shower didn't drain, had to turn the water off every few seconds and wait... Pretty uncomfortable experience. Walla Walla isn't very great either.

United StatesVery hard to find check in desk on arrival. No signs No door man. no bag assistance. Finally had to call and a very nice women walked out to help us Hotel extremely dark and uninviting. A simple sign saying Welcome and Check straight ahead would have been helpful. We understand a remodel going on but no food service in bar till after 4:30. No TV in to watch a football game and no full breakfast service. No water bottles in the room which you would think a suite would at least have a few bottles Room looks over ugly gas station. Room Very dark and old. It was clean the the bed comfortable and a nice bathroom The women who came out to get us was helpful and did look into a room change

United StatesHave stayed in the Tower portion and it was nice. New wing of hotel is not any better than a Quality Inn. Room had a bad odor when I arrived and it did not go away. The bed was so uncomfortable that after two nights of not sleeping well I bought a mattress topper at Walmart to add to the bed.
Location was great. The staff were all friendly and the lobby was nice.

United StatesThe staff, specifically “Andrea” was very nasty. She had poor customer service, a mean tone in her voice and handled my questions in an inappropriate poor manner. We spent 2 nights of our reservation and asked if we could cancel the third night and not have to pay for it. The cancellation policy was somewhat vague on Booking.com and also their website as it said cancellation with less than 48 hr. or after arrival date was forfeiture of one night charge. it said nothing about change after stay has been initiated and two nights have been used and paid. I understand that every property has their own policy and that this was not allowed by the Marcus Whitman Hotel, however, my complaint is about the manner with which she answered me and her words. She said that they recently had new owners and now they would never allow no charge with less than 48 hours cancellation. However, she did say that if we had made the reservation directly with the hotel instead of through Booking, com, she would have allowed no charge for the last night. However, since we used a third party, she would not allow it. Funny thing is, that if I booked that day directly with the hotel, for the 3rd night that I wanted to cancel, their rate was far less than we actually paid through Booking.com. So they were still making a profit. And the cancellation policy on Bookings website says they follow the hotel policy. Why would there then be a difference? But most importantly, Andrea could have been nice about it all. She was not. She was rude, harsh tone, belittled me. and made me feel horrible that I even asked! She should be sweet when working with customers. It was a shame because up until that day, I loved our stay there and would have returned in the future, but she sure soured my whole impression of the hotel. It’s interesting how poor customer service can change a customer’s impression and make them not want to ever return again.
The room and bed was very comfortable. the location was perfect.
