Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesUnfortunately, I woke up with my left arm covered in bed bug bites! For a hostel this large and busy, it's going to be near-impossible to get rid of the bed bugs. The neighborhood is light industrial, it's not unsafe, it's just kind of bleak.
I stayed in a 5-person room, which was fine - there were 3 individual beds and 1 bunk bed. It's a social hostel, with a game room and common area. It's about a 15 minute walk to the L and J/M trains, and 30-ish minutes to Midtown Manhattan.

United StatesThe walk to and from the hostel is a bit scary, especially at night. Of course this is NYC,which is expected but still.... Also a bit far away from all the activities.
The decor is bright and noisy, good to brighten people's mood. Adam the staff is very friendly and helpful in storing my luggage and suggested the best route to go to Staton Island ferry. The rest areas and kitchen are spacious. Furniture need some upgrade.

United StatesThere were a bunch of tiny bugs on the ceiling in the shower.
I stayed in a women's four room dorm, and the room was quite spacious. I was surprised it wasn't bunk beds. The bathroom was incredibly large and facilities seemed in good repair. There was a table and chairs in the room, and a standalone closet in addition to the lockers, so some nice conveniences. Public space on the first floor looked comfy and cozy. Close enough to a couple subway lines and some bus lines, plenty of nearby restaurants, a bodega right at the end of the block, so convenient for whatever.

GermanyIt is a hostel, so no TV in the room :-) Our room was street side. Sometimes it was a bit noisy due to passing trucks or airplanes approaching the airport. Not too bad with closed windows, though.
Great location to explore NY with 3 train stations and nice cafes nearby. The entire hostel (like its neighborhood) is decorated with artistic graffiti, which offers a unique experience during the stay in Brooklyn.

LuxembourgFor a first-time traveler, the neighborhood looks dangerous but in the end, it seems it's not. The beds were not private at all, annoying when somebody turns the lights on. I could hear the noise from the hallway, especially when people checked in the early morning.
Cheap price for New York, the subway can take you anywhere in the city. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to buy food nearby.

United StatesRoom was right in front of the building so lots of street noise from idling trucks and people talking outside of the building. Make sure to bring earplugs and eye mask and you will have no problems.
Hostel was very clean and the front desk was helpful and nice. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. AC in the room was perfect.

United StatesThe room and bathroom echoed like crazy so you could loudly hear everything everyone did. Even though we all tried being quiet I couldn't sleep without earplugs. Any movement was amplified. They really need rugs to dampen the sound. Also, my lamp didn't work and it was hard to find outlets to charge my devices. I wish they had lamps with USB charging ports. And because the drawers and lockers were all metal, they were especially loud in the sound-amplifying room. Locks were not provided. The person at the counter who checked me in did not explain that there was a lounge or coffee room, or what the wifi password was. The iron stairs & catwalk to get to room 209 are rusted‐‐and again, very noisy.
The walls were covered floor to ceiling with great art. The bed was comfortable. The lounge and kitchen were convenient and large. People I met there were friendly and courteous. The bathroom was large with a fancy shower.

South KoreaI wish for the outside there was something to limit the weed smell coming from the smoking area that was near the room. maybe some roofing or something like that. So as it doesn't limit smokers but it doesn't filter into the rooms as much.

IndonesiaMorgan Av Station and the path from / to the hostel through Morgan Av Station. The Morgan Av Station and surroundings looks sketchy without not many people around (or almost no one around). But you can always choose Montrose Avenue Station for the access because it look and feel safer compared to the Morgan Av Station.
7 minutes walk from Montrose Avenue Station (Subway L). I choose the access through Montrose Avenue Station because the station and the path to the hostel seems safer compared to the Morgan Av Station which make me feel unsafe when walking to/from the hostel. However, the hostel have everything you need as a backpacker. They have computer room, game room, living room?, smoking space, kitchen, coffee & tea etc. All the staff are super friendly. The room are clean with spaces and privacy. A locker for your bags too, of course. But remember to bring your own lock. They offers luggage storage service for free as long as you pick the luggage before 10PM after check out. Though I didn't stay out late night since I am concern about the safety around the hostel but I had a good sleep every night so love my stay there. Thank you all especially to Nico who let me check in early. Wish you guys have a good day!!
