We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesA little too close to the road on the other side, could hear traffic noises. No Uber service in the area made it really difficult to move around without a car. The private taxi company is expensive: 20 dollars for a 5min ride downtown... The breakfast is a little too bland. Considering the amazing restaurant on site, we were expecting a gorgeous breakfast but there was nothing warm to eat (no eggs, no bacon).
Studio with private terrace and private access to the beach. Amazing sea view. Very clean. Great service. Really good food at the restaurant (but tiny portions and expensive).

United StatesNothing but I do think it is expensive for what it is. The value of offerings is there, but I do feel it is slightly overpriced. It feels a lot to say $2k for two nights near a sleepy town.
Views, unbeatable. Space was lovely and clean. Beds were comfortable. The layout of the property was thoughtful.

United StatesThe room had broken/ missing window blinds. For the cost of one night, these window treatments should be repaired/ replaced. Also called for toilet paper and housekeeping never brought it. I literally had to walk to the front desk and get it myself.

United States"Standard" rooms have zero waterfront view with only 1 small window above the bed overlooking the parking lot. The room itself was clean and small size was ok, but I cannot believe they charge as much as they do for these Standard rooms considering all others have views/deck access right on the water. The Standard rooms should be half the price. I felt a bit foolish that we paid what we did after seeing our room. It's also misleading because Booking's hotel page states: "All the rooms at Sound View are waterfront." Because of this, I assumed we'd at least have a window view of the water, nope. Turns out the hotel's actual website does say "no water views" for these rooms but Booking should be more clear about that because I definitely would've paid to upgrade if I had realized. (Obviously a mix-up they have frequently as the front desk informed me upon check-in, unprompted, that our room didn't have a water view and that their website does state this.) Another discrepancy: there is no mini-bar in the Standard room as Booking states. Our dog's food requires refrigeration, so I had specifically checked for that. To their credit, the front desk guy the next morning was VERY helpful and they were able to find us a fridge by that afternoon and even comped us 2 nights of parking for the mix-up, which was really nice! But for what they're charging, I can't believe they don't provide this amenity. Housekeeping is only on request, which I liked in theory since we had our dog, but then it took 4 separate requests over 2 days to finally get some new towels, toilet paper, and 2 more hangers (there was a large walk-in closet but only 2 hangers, so we got 4 total). So, service was a tad do-it-yourself. I'm ok with a laid back nature, but expectations should be adjusted for some aspects here. I don't know that I'd call it 4-star.
The location and view can't be beat: right on the water and has unmatched seaside views, especially at sunset. This is why they can get away with charging as much as they do, given some other drawbacks (see below). The private stretch of beach with chairs/umbrellas was great, and we appreciated the pool shack to get drinks, lunch, and have a dip in the pool. Staff is not overly helpful on the beach; one day we had a nice kid with a shovel help us with our umbrella and the next day they told my husband they couldn't help and he found the shovel himself. But we loved the sunset beach cocktail hours with live music; probably our favorite part of our stay. The beach bar is only open during this time in the evenings, not all afternoon for beach goers which we were surprised by (pool bar only). The facilities/decor of the hotel are nice. The style is a cute, old seaside motel feel but in an updated, nice way, a nostalgia vibe but not at all rundown. Bath products in the room were nice (Malin+Goetz). The fact that this hotel is dog friendly made it so easy to take a long weekend from the city over the holiday. They are really laid back about dogs, and leashed dogs are welcome on the beach which was a HUGE plus for us. The pet fee is the one area where I felt Sound View's pricing is incredibly reasonable and competitive. Please don't change that! Only a 5-10 min drive into town so it was nice to have the seaside aspect and still be able to get rather quickly to other restaurants. You do need a car if you're staying here though, since cabs/Ubers are hard to come by and on a busy street so not walkable (unfortunately you must pay the $26 night parking fee). The "piano" bar only had a piano player 1 night out of 4 that we saw, which was fine but mostly it was just a nice little bar.

United StatesI asked for a ground floor room ( traveling with an infant). Did not get and they claimed i didn't request but we called ahead. The pack and play for baby was not in room and ww had to wait for an hour and many calls to get it ( even though we requested and called in advance). There were no hangers in room at all. Hair conditioner empty. Toolet leaking. No towels to be had at beach or pool before 10:30 am. The food in the ( expensive) restaurant was mediocre. Worst of all, they charged a parking fee per night for a hotel that can only be accessed by car! Thats insane for a hotel charging $600 a night, even in NoFo. My daughter had her wedding rehearsal dinner there. We used to love this hotel but i fear that the competition of new hotels is going to outshine them for the money. We know the area very well.
The location cant be beat. My main reason for lower ratings revolved around the service aspect of staying there relative to the price of the room.

GermanyNo safe, no minibar or fridge in the room. The restaurant was closed. The bar offered food but the could place a vending machine with drinks and snacks in the lobby. There is no supermarket or petrol station close by to buy anything. Didn’t have a car and bikes were not available so I was stuck. A bedside table light would have been nice. There is no light switch for the main light to put out so you need to get up and walk to the door to switch off the light. Room didn’t have a minibar, safe and bathrooms as advertised on Booking.com I wasn’t bothered and I was comfortable for the one night I stayed.
Nice comfortable place. Great bar and food. Lovely sunset. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Lovely bathroom amenities.

Antigua & BarbudaThe walls are paper thin. You can hear the traffic and every step and word outside your room. We were woken in the middle of the night and very early morning by inconsiderate neighbors. Also a pity they don’t set up the chairs outside before end of May , it might be chilly but it’s still nice to sit outside.
The rooms and the view on the water was beautiful. Very comfortable. Loved lying on the bed and looking at the ocean.
