Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPerhaps there should be less bunk beds in the room because when someone is coming back late it’s a bit difficult to use the en-suite facilities. But I think the receptionist who manages the bed allocations are very conscious of not over-crowding each dorm room. If you are a light sleeper I highly recommend bringing ear plugs & eye mask. (That’s pretty standard for hostel accommodation. :-) )
Great value, clean, handy, close to all amenity & pretty safe neighbourhood, all facilities are super convenient for solo/group backpacker alike. Great ambience in the communal area & lots of workspace for doing digital nomad work. They also provide you a padlock to lock your personal item in the box under the bed. There is kitchen if travellers want to do some simple cooking to save money, and laundry for the backpackers to use if they have been on the road for a long time. Close to Court Sq station which is super easy if you are travelling from JFK.

United StatesIt seemed a little removed from Manhattan.
The staff were so friendly and nice, and the communal areas were great for getting to know people. Also loved the work stations and the kitchen.

BrazilThere are no planned activities with the guests (pub crawls, walking tours, anything), which is something I really enjoy when staying in hostels. There is a bar but was always almost empty.
Comfortable beds, super clean, nice kitchen. Location is good, very close to a subway station that will get you to all the main points in manhatan in less than 30min. Neighbourhood felt safe.

GermanyI guess it's the new york prices, but still it was quite expensive for a bed in a dormitory with roomates coming in and going out all night and very bad/humid air that was not inviting to stay longer than the couple hours of sleep a night.
Nice atmosphere and mostly clean

GermanyThe bunk beds have no privacy curtains and no little shelf to put your phone etc. In heavy rain, the ground floor was getting very wet, water coming in through the drains.
Convenient location and friendly staff, rooms and facilities normal for a hostel.

United KingdomDespite some of the staff being very friendly I found some of the other staff a bit indifferent which isn’t very hospitable and nice to feel if your a solo traveller wanting to meet new people and not feel like an alien. I understand work is work and we all have off days etc. but it does make a difference to be accommodating and friendly especially to solo travellers who don’t really know anyone there and may feel out of place. Doesn’t take away from the other staff that were very friendly and accommodating but just worth being aware of if I’m a solo traveller spending a decent amount to stay there. There could be more social activities as well to help people socialise or otherwise it can feel quite lonely. The walls are paper thin so easy to hear other people in neighbouring rooms too and also the price is a bit too high for what your getting I’d say.
I particularly loved the location especially with the rooftop view of the skyline at the top! Rooms were decent and some of the staff were very friendly!

SwedenSadly, there was no mugs/cups in the pantry. So, I couldn't have tea as i frequently do.
The room was spacious with enough storage for all four occupants. The room was meticulously clean, with fairly new linen. Located right in the center of New York City eased access to all tourist attractions.

United KingdomThe location is superb - only ten minutes away from Hunters Point Park where you can have a nice walk and enjoy the Manhattan skyline. There are also nice coffeeshops and bars around. The hostel has a kitchen where you can leave your food and cook breakfast; they also have a decent bar and a nice looking lounge/coworking zone. And a rooftop which is absolutely amazing! The staff was all super friendly, special kudos to Sandy!

United StatesNo ledge next to the bed for glasses, charger, etc. There also are not a lot of food options close by that are open late.
Very clean with big underbed lockers and comfortable bedding. Friendly staff. The common area had lots of seating and a large table with multiple power outlets, which was appreciated as I had to work for part of my trip. A quick walk to the E train and an easy 25-min ride to midtown Manhattan.

SwitzerlandIt was getting cold in the room during night, but there is a heating fan installed. Walls and doors are thin and you could hear noise very easily. However, we were satisfied staying at the Local NY.
The Local NY is located in a quiet neighbourhood. In 2 minutes walking distance there are a few new restaurants and a brewery - which we liked very much. The next subway station is very close and services several lines to manhattan. The room was not too big but clean and as we expected. Travelling NYC, we would stay in the Hostel again.
