Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaIt’s an older, historic property so we did need to rely on a ceramic heater in our bathroom to be comfortable. We also had an electric fireplace in our room that was appreciated.
The hosts are just wonderful! The breakfast each morning was a gourmet selection.

United StatesNothing. They did everything just right.
When you first turn into the driveway past the two formal posts, down the quiet forest lined drive and up to the house surrounded by gardens and covered in ivy, the impression is "this place is magical". You feel like you are a world away, yet you are only a few miles from Stillwater. The surrounding park lands are absolutely beautiful. The house itself feels more like an English estate you are a guest of, the inside is well appointed with antiques, a giant fireplace, baby grand, a beautiful library, our king room was huge and comfortable, and the homemade freshly concocted breakfast of red velvet bread pudding, various quiches, fruit with vanilla dip, apple muffins, and croissant sandwhiches, plus homemade fruit smoothies etc. was just absolutely out of this world!! This place was a complete treat, from start to finish. They were extremely welcoming and friendly, ensuring we had a great stay. Wow.

We loved Outing Lodge! It has an interesting history and there's authenticity in the renovations done. The owners were wonderful - attentive, interesting, informative and a delight to have met.

United StatesI loved the luxurious bathroom and inset tub, but it was a little scary climbing in and out. A handle bar and some grippy steps would have been very welcome.
The breakfast was excellent! It was clearly homemade, I remember hearing the host working away in the kitchen. I also got to chat a little with one of the other hosts, and that made it a lovely experience.

United StatesWish the Jets were deep cleaned in the bathtub but everything else was amazing.
What an engaging staff that is looking to always be providing you with any need. It was amazing to meet owners, be able to hear the vision they have for the last 30 plus years for this property. But was able to have enough space to not feel obligated to have conversation.

United StatesMy only complaint is that upstairs smells like gas. And the movie options were a little low; but they do have Netflix.
The room was cozy and clean. Breakfast was great and very healthy. It's close to the Croix River; great trails to walk. The owner was present and very welcoming.

United StatesThis isn't for everyone, but we found it charming. Our room, Robert Frost, was large with lots of windows. Only complaints were the noisy window AC, and lack of comfortable chair, which we solved by using one from the library/great room. Breakfast was very good and provided many gluten free items.

United StatesNo chair in my room. TV in room is DVD only. Went to common area by the fireplace to read and it was too dimly lit to be able to read. Breakfast wasn't served until 9AM. Typically I would be fine with that but this day I had to leave by 7AM. Still there was no coffee out in the serving area that early and none available in the room.
Historic aspect of the lobby.

United StatesThe bed is on the softer side which was not very comfortable for me. In the cooler weather, the room can be a bit cold.
I loved how rustic the lodge was. I love the beautiful library and sitting space upstairs. The lodge is very elegant but also homey and cozy. It has a very romantic vibe. I really enjoyed the sunken tub! I also love that the property is situated far back from the road so it really feels like you’re secluded. The breakfast was wonderful and the coffee was delicious!
