Lovely hotel with many small nice touches. The private onsen rooms (4) were readily available with no reservations needed. Very awesome if you are traveling as a family. Food was pretty good but not outstanding. However the price felt fair.

Lovely room with a great view of the garden and distant mountains. The private bath on our balcony was excellent plus there was another bath that could be booked for private use with a view of the forest, free of charge. We had 2 kaiseki dinners which were delicious. There was plenty of food but the portions were more manageable than some similar hotels. The tempura was the best we've ever had!
Staff were very friendly. You can walk to Kompira-san via a direct route from behind the property. There was a hotel shuttle bus to the station.
A 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station, Kotosankaku Hiten provides Japanese rooms with traditional futon beds and Konpira Mountain views.

It exceeded all of my expectations of a traditional ryokan experience. The hospitality and service was on another level, especially to foreigners such as myself and my friend. Maybe my westernized perspective on service pales in comparison to my general inexperience with this sort of thing. But as a first-timer, this was an experience.

This is a lovely old property, very close to the entrance of the Kompira shrine. Our Japanese-style room was large and comfortable, and we were delighted with the bath facilities. Dinner and breakfast and a welcome cocktail all were included and the meals were truly excellent. Highly recommended.

The facility was centrally located. The owners and staff were very accommodating. We were able to communicate adequately even though they didn't speak English and we didn't speak Japanese. The onsens were super clean and the water was toasty. We were impressed with our experience and would not hesitate to stay at the Takaraya again if we ever return to Kotohira.

Hotel is close to the theme park as it is the only hotel associated with the theme park. BUT the hotel and theme park is quite far from the train station. There is a free bus shuttle but runs infrequently. We ended up taking taxis to the facility . The hotel is huge and it had lots of things that could accommodate the large crowd: Pool and game rooms for children, large onsen baths, large self serve restaurant, and a big store for shopping.
Located in Kasuga, 16 mi from Takamatsu, Asan Kotonami features a terrace and views of the mountain. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and sauna, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant.

Every single detail was exceptional beyond expectations. The room, the staff, the food, the hot springs, the spa, the mountain location, the ambiance, the little thoughtful touches, the shuttle into town, the public areas, absolutely everything was perfection. I never wanted to leave.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Beautiful haven of tranquility. The design and craftsmanship in the rooms was exquisite. The outdoor onsen bath, though small, was wonderful. The ryokan is a quick walk to the historic Kabuki theater if you take the path behind the property. The theater is definitely worth a visit. We wish we had stayed a second night.
The proprietor is lovely and helpful. She gave us a map of places around the ryokan as well as large size loaner umbrellas (larger than our conbini type) which was great as we arrived on a very rainy day. The rooms are as expected for Japanese style in an older building. The onsen is simple but clean and that's all that really matters.
- Very cozy rooms and relaxing athmosphere
- Beautiful furniture and accessories in the room
- The onsen with outdoor bath
- You can choose your own Yukata
- Location close to Konpira-san
The place was very good. Staff at counter, parking area and room service staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The room was excellent - big, clean and the futons were comfortable. The onsen was superb. Good restaurant within the premises. In addition varied eating places were within walking distance. The location was closed to a couple of popular places of interest. Recommended for stay in Kagawa area.
Great varieties of options for breakfast, both Japanese and western style. Lovey view of mountains from the room. Onsen was superb, sauna and cold bath was available as well. Fantastic location , walkable distance from Konpirasan. Had a nice and relaxing stay at this Ryokan.
The room was wonderful, large and well decorated. The hotel is really beautiful, you can borrow a yukata for the length of your stay, which was really great! The dinner was delicious, a several course meal with different traditional Japanese dishes. The onsen is open 24h, very convenient, very clean, with several baths available.
