Colon by itself is a poor place... You will find nothing actually interesting within the city: just very poor hopeless houses, strange streets without traffic lights, very confusing bus station. This place is not for a peacefull rest. But rather for seeing the actual story of the panamanian people who are in economic troubles even thought working hard..
I love Colon because I have many friends there. The hotel was great but Colon is struggling.
Colon is not much of a place. Place is run down although they are making an effort to restore some of the place, however they have been at it since 2000 as the project states " Colon 2000". If you want to go out at night make sure you have a car and stick to the hotels. Best to just continue up the coast to Portobelo and the likes.
Shopping in Zona Libre is the best thing and a good reason to visit Colon! Very good prices!
Colon city is under construction. Instead of them doing a section at at time almost the whole city is dug up. When it rains it the roads flood everywhere.
Colon is in a transition is guering better. I was treated very well. Need to fix the road to get in to Melia Hotel. AND more help with bags. Better atmosphere around it.
Colon is not safe. The Radisson 2000 is located in a small shopping mall. It is not safe to go beyond that mall.
The beaches in Colon are very beautiful. The water is warm and the sand is fine and clear.
40 years ago, this was a beautiful Caribbean Colonial city. Today, it's a crumbling mess of ghettos and squalor the result of government prejudice, criminal corruption and forced poverty.
Well, the infrastructures of the hotel are good compared to its surroundings! However, there's a lot of room to improve! The room was clean and it's confortable. However needs some maintenance! But it's probably the best hotel in Colon, despite our scoring ! It has a security guard 24h and it's nice because you can park your vehicle and it stays safe. The security guard was the nicest guy we found in the hotel give him a bonus at the end of the month because this guy serves to protect the clients and it's happy for that!
We are very grateful for all the attention and care we received in Isla Grande, Colón – Panama. The Staff was amazing and did all their utmost to provide us with the best experience. The room was also very nice and spacious, with even 2 beds. The food was also very tasty, both at breakfast and lunchtime. Very much recommended.
Portobelo
Out of all the places in Colon Portobello area this place is decent. It’s a good location, nice views, it’s quite clean, the best place we’ve stayed when traveling to this area. Because other places upon arrival are in worse condition then advertised. So this place was good over all.
The rooms were spacious with a balcony facing the river and a hammock to enjoy the view. The hotel is in a colonial style, which creates a very nice atmosphere. The pool is huge, great for swimming, chilling and also children.
Close to the Cruise pier and "Zona Libre". Colon is not the prettiest place but the hotel was fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Excellent location, with a fun vibe. The kitchen cooked the snook that we caught and it was incredible.
The Reina Congo was a great room with a balcony on the water. Food @ the Restaurant was very good. Jose @ the reception was fantastic. Also, the restaurant staff were courteous.
Amazing!!!! We loved this place, peaceful, natural, many animals around, fantastic!! Sebastien has so many tips, made our stay unforgettable, we could join Jungle and Beach for our 2 last days in Panamá, just perfect! Would have love to stay longer to see more!! And have to say that going into the Jungle with Pascal was amazing, such an incredible feeling to go through this nature and felt really safe with Pascal!
