Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The shower was a bit impracticable and we were missing few cupboards/shelves to put our stuff. The windows couldn’t be closed but we felt pretty safe to leave them open.
Having the breakfast on the beach is irreplaceable! The room was good, and it felt safe. When host didn’t know English words, she immediately used translator and that was very committed and friendly. The location is great, at the beach and yet close to the old town.

It was quite noisy as the restaurant doubles as sort of a club in the evening and doesn’t close until 12:30am, so if you don’t plan to be part of the festivities, it is very noisy even in your room.
The hotel was in a good location as it was very close to the old town and directly on a small but nice beach close to everything you need. Breakfast each morning on the beach was very nice.

Breakfast is very basic, but with the price we paid it doesn’t matter. It would be great if they can put proper shampoo bottles in bathrooms to keep up with basic standards, and clean pink mould in the shower cubicles with a stiff brush with some chlorine.
It’s very basic, not much to offer, but it is perfect for beach stay in quite area with easy access and staff was super helpful and lovely. It looks worse than it actually is. It is fairly clean, has aircon, and good shower.

The location is perfect, the breakfast on the beach, close to the historic center and by night this is the place to be ! It's very animated on the beach with live bands and Forró. We also had good recommandations for excursions, Paula at the reception was really nice, she speaks portuguese, english and spanish so the communication was very easy and she booked the boat and jeep tour for us I will definetely come back and I recommend that place for sure

Everything was within my expectations, nothing to complain about
I really liked having such a good breakfast in front of the sea. The Geko's location is excellent, close to the tourist center and in front of Praia do Pontal. 10 minutes walk from the bus station! I was able to hire sightseeing tours right there. The best score for the attention of the reception girls.

The property needs a major clean up and upgrade. The beds are terrible. It looks like the rooms were just slapped together with no due thought!

Often there was no one in the office, so if you had issues there was no one around. Our first room the toilet was broke and the sink ran brown water. The selling freature for us, the area with table over looking the sea, was always closed and locked up, such a shame. I work part time, remotly, and had planned to work there. Otherwise we would ahve saved money and stayed a few blocks back. We were given a towel with bird poo on it, although I am not convinced it was bird, and they barely commented. Breakfast includes eggs, you have to know to ask. All in all a pousada that does the bare minimum.
Location was great! Very quiet.
