Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Chinathe bottom floor rooms (which we stayed in) was very hot and less airy than the rest of the facility located at the top floor. the fridges were not working properly, there was no space for all the guests to put their food in and were not as clean as the kitchen.
The location and facilities were amazing, quiet, peaceful and fully immersed in the tropical forest. I really appreaciated that the kitchen was fairly well equipped and it was regularly cleaned by the staff. The vibe was amazing, a lot of people from all over the world, friendly staff.

AustraliaA dorm of 4 - 5 beds was a bit too cosy, the fridge was not clean.
It is beautiful, looks like a giant tree house in the middle of the forest and by the waterfall. Looks better than the pictures on booking.com

United KingdomThere is a lack of FULL privacy as it is all open air and no full walls between rooms.
WOW what a place! This place is like a massive treehouse for travellers! We loved our stay - the facilities are clean, the beds were comfortable, the showers were clean and so was the kitchen. This place is within the jungle and has quiet hours from 10pm - 7am which is great for winding down and making sure you get a good night sleep. There is a platform which overlooks the jungle where people practice yoga, or you can just sit and read or take in the amazing views with the sound of nature around you. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was great. The place is a little out the way and up a bit of a hill, but that's how they get this amazing view. We also recommend the Beer Garden next door which do craft beer and great food. Overall, highly recommend for that jungle experience!

CanadaWe had a private room with a nice size outdoor space with table and hammock and surrounded by jungle and humminbirds. This made our stay perfect!! Location was close to waterfall. Not walking distance to amenities, but they advise you to prepare yourself so that was fine. ANd the kitchen was very well equipped and volunteer staff were great and helpful. Terrace overlooking the jungle and beautiful sunset was incredible!

United KingdomI was surprised that I saw few birds and animals over the 3 days I was there. That doesn’t take away from the fact that it is in a beautiful location
A beautiful property bordering the rainforest, 5 minutes from the waterfall where you can ‘swim’, 5 minutes from a nice bar serving food, 10 to 15 minutes walking from restaurants, friendly, helpful staff.

United KingdomMy only minor suggestion is better labelling of the re-cycling bins, as the writing had rubbed out.
Great atmosphere, and loved the various different nooks for sitting in, or lying in a hammock, with different amazing views of the rain forest. Also liked the multinational feel and that young and old seemed equally at home.

GermanyAs there is not much to go out at night around the hostel, it can get quite crowded in the kitchen area around dinner time and you might have to wait until it is your turn. All of the walls are made of bamboo so there is very little privacy. There is only a few bathrooms and showers for quite a lot of people, again, you might have to wait. Sometimes the people at the reception did not have answers for local recommendations. The beach is 1:15h away when walking, but the walk itself is not too bad if you have time.
The hostel is situated in the middle of the jungle with a great view all the way to the ocean - absolutely stunning. The waterfall is just 5 minutes walking away. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were plenty of seating possibilities throughout the common areas. The reception has tons of information about everything. Multiple books are provided in a little library. The hammocks were super great and comfy!

United StatesThis place has open-air bamboo and wood buildings that are closely connected to the surrounding natural jungle landscape, and the beds are proteced with mosquito net tents, so the "jungle experience" is fun and enjoyable. The main building has a very large deck on the second level so you can see into and over the jungle treetops. There is a large, covered, and open-air shared kitchen that well equipped and they provide delicious free coffee from morning to night. The bathrooms are shared but are kept clean and the showers have HOT water.

United StatesCharging me extra twice, for paying in the National Currency, without even informing me, is a cheap money grab. The fan located in the GH private rooms are ancient & completely ineffective, they do almost less than nothing, buy some new fans! The mattresses were also old and lacked any firmness, clearly these current owners aren’t in it for the long term..
The staff was very pleasant & professional. The kitchen facilities were great if you got to them either early or later. Breakfast was very good along wt the service.

United StatesSuper warm, the fans in both rooms I stayed in were ineffective , almost pointless. A considerably amount of guests stay here, and the wifi cannot handle this, very dated, as we need it to plan our next stay/directions etc. Also, charging customers for paying in local currency (Colones), without informing is illegal & bad business..
Situated Jungle-like, very cool in that aspect. . The volunteer staff is excellent, and super-pleasant. You can purchase breakfast as well as snacks/cold beverages on site. Cooking is fun & easy if you beat the rush.

United StatesNot really a dislike, but since I visited in the busy season (late January), the place was pretty much full and trying to negotiate space for making your meals at peak times can be a little tricky. The cooking area gets pretty crowded.
This is an amazing place. When I arrived, a sloth high up above near the entrance was making its way up a branch. It's only a short walk to the waterfall which is amazing. Both common areas are actually incredibly beautiful and comfortable! The view at sunset from the upper level common area is absolutely heaven. It's a hostel in the jungle (so it's not for everyone, but I absolutely loved it ) and it's open air, so there is a possibility that some wildlife may enter your sleeping area. But I had encounters. There is mosquito netting for around the beds. This place is paradise and I'm looking forward to coming back someday.
