Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe room was very bare bones. One small bar of soap. No shampoo or lotion. There were 2 bath towels but no hand towels or wash cloths. The staff next door gave me some wash cloths. No coffee maker or cups or any item whatsoever for kitchen area. Fortunately, I travel with my own stuff, so had everything I needed. The room was not as clean as it could have been. My feet got black from walking on the floor with bare feet.
The room was a good size and had a small kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and the linens were fresh & clean. The staff was great, though only available at the motel next door. I was able to park right in front of my room. Nice little Mexican restaurant inside of the Oasis, next door.

United StatesIt wasn’t the cleanest. We found giant grasshopper in the bathroom along with a lighter / torch under the bathroom sink.
By far the best deal / value I’ve gotten on motel rooms. I was also surprised to find that they were pretty large and included a little kitchenette with a relatively large refrigerator and freezer, microwave, stove, and sink. I also liked that they had tile style floors instead of carpet. TV had YouTube to distract our baby for a little bit too. Also had good blackout curtains.

United StatesWe were here for a basketball tournament. Check in was quick and you have to check in at Oasis hotel next door. One reason I booked here was because we would be in and out and wanted to save on buying fast food. however, when we got to our room we had no microwave, no trashcan and only two towels. We were told we would need to speak to management but there were no managers present the entire weekend and when we checked out I was told they would be back next week. I still have not received a call almost a week later.

United StatesLike most cheap hotels, the walls were paper thin and I could hear every little sound. Why do people blast their TVs at 10 at night and why do hotels put them right next to the bed in the next room? But I anticipated this and brought earplugs so didn’t matter in the end. Bathroom fan was kinda loud too.
I was expecting the worst for the price I paid to book this hotel last minute for a work trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the property was for how cheap it was! The man at the front desk when I arrived in the evening (Chet? Wish I could remember his name) was friendly and helpful, the room was simple and the sheets/towels were clean. All I really needed was a decent bed, a hot shower and a working fridge/microwave and it delivered. Right next door to a grocery store and 15 minutes from the north entrance of Joshua Tree. 29 palms doesn’t have much going on but I’m not a big fan of touristy areas so I liked that. Decent food in the area.

United StatesWe did not like the bed pillows because they were uncomfortable. I had also booked a 3 night stay a week in advance and then they knocked on the door the very next day and told us we had only booked one night, which wasn't true. They accommodated us for the second night after seeing my original reservation and blamed booking.com for overbooking.
We liked that the room we received was on the 1st floor and convenient to get to our vehicle.

United StatesI thought we would have breakfast in the mornings but was not available during my stay there. Also, there is a pool but I'm not sure if it is operational so kinda disappointed about that too.
The king suite was very spacious and comes with a fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker. Also, the location is perfect stores are close by and it is very lit staff is also friendly and helpful. Attractions are not too far away like Joshua National Park, trails, and the farmers market in 29 Palms.

United KingdomThere were no staff at all at the motel when we arrived to check in. We had to check in at the hotel next door, which meant that the staff there (reception and housekeeping) were very busy. When we arrived at our room, the bed had not been made and the bathroom not completed. The housemaid was fantastic and made up our room quickly but we were not the only guests on our 2nd floor who were in the same situation with rooms that were not ready.

United StatesThe price to stay at the Starlight Inn is now more than $30 above what I have been paying staying at an average of once a month for the last year. If it wasn't for a $25 voucher courtesy of Booking.com I would not have booked my stay and actually don't see myself unfortunately staying due to their new increased rate any time soon. I was informed had I booked it directly it would have been even more expensive. It appears it pays to shop around and pays to book through Booking.com. I'd like to thank Booking.com for the voucher provided being very much appreciated. Thank You
Having stayed at the Starlight Inn many times I have yet to be disappointed. It's clean, secure with convenient parking and free and fast WiFi and until recently pricewise was my go to accommodation in Twentynine Palms for visits to Joshua Tree NP.

United StatesEvery time I stay here (I stay here around 6 - 9 times per year for, usually, just one, but sometimes more, nights), the TV in each room seems to be a different subscription service. I only watch ION (for Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, or Blue Bloods reruns) and over the past year, only the TV in one room actually showed ION on its channel menu. You need to standardize your TVs and quit swapping them around! And, of course, they MUST show ION.

United StatesAccess to the pool across the way? (kidding).
The Starlight Inn has become our go to accommodation for trips to Joshua Tree NP. We've averaged one two night stay a month in 2024 and have never had a negative thing to stay. The rooms are clean, secure, bathroom is roomy and the room comes with a microwave and small fridge as well as WIFI that is fast and free. It pays to shop around when it comes to places to stay near Joshua Tree but if there is a better "Bang for the Buck" than the Starlight Inn I haven't found it. As long as the quality we've come to expect continues we will continue to stay exclusively at the Starlight Inn and would encourage family and friends to do the same. Hope this is of some help.
