Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaAdditional local tax was charged at the property which we did not expect. This extra cost needs to be made clear to prospective customers before they book.
Nice homely feel and interesting period decor. This apartment and the area it is in has a lot of character. Well set up with full kitchen and laundry facilities.

GermanyThere was nothing to complain about. Only light sleepers might notice the sound of freight train horns in the valley. We liked it!
We were looking for an authentic private accommodation for our day trips in the Hudson Valley. With 1860 Hagios B&B, we found exactly what we were looking for: a quiet neighborhood and a good selection of restaurants and bars. Gary responds promptly to inquiries and is always helpful. The banana bread upon arrival was delicious. Overall, a pleasant stay.

United StatesThe only change we’d make would be the television. We had access to limited cable channels but could not stream from our own platforms because the tv didn’t have a remote.
The apartment was well restored to the Victorian period. Gary, the owner, was very accommodating and friendly. The location is fantastic for exploring the Hudson Valley.

GermanyPoughkeepsie needs a little more touristic development, but it is at hand.
Mr. Maier has dully renovated this Victorian Villa in lines with the historical outfit. The equipment is 21st century but the styling follows a 19th century pattern. It has become almost a piece of decorative art in which you can feel at home. We would have liked to carry this appartment with us on our tour in the US. You have calm and privacy in a nicely styled environment.Dont search fuether, you found a beautifull place with a caring owner.

GermanyWe really enjoyed our stay here. Gary is a great host, and we had inspiring conversations with him. While fitting the appartment he absolutely thought of everything; you just need your luggage (=clothes) to stay here. The rooms are fondly furnitured - it's such a joy to walk through the flat and look at all the details. Even the fridge was filled with some softdrinks and fruits, and Gary's legendary banana bread tastes yummy!

United StatesThe only thing I’d suggest is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. I have a hard time sleeping when I don’t have a fan on.
It was a beautiful property, host made us feel at home, very clean and well stocked. Host went out of his way to help us with what we needed. Great value as well!

United StatesNothing. There was nothing not to like. The landlord even made dinner one night when there was a snowstorm. What is there not to like about that? Not sure he would do that for everyone, but the fact he was paying attention that things were closed down? Wow.
I have traveled around the world, lived in three countries and across the states, and have had my share of travel adventures, but none of that prepared me for the experience of entering the apartment I rented in Poughkeepsie last week. I had been in a hurry in making preparations for a meeting with a friend at Vassar College and honestly did not care much about my lodgings. I was focused on my work. Entering this Victorian house was like walking into a past world, almost a destination in itself! In fact, even if I have no more reason to go back to New York again, I might just go back to enjoy the delights of living in such an atmosphere! Every appointment was finished to the kind of level one would expect in a millionaire's dream. I do not know the story behind how this house was so lovingly restored, but maybe there's a novel in there (I am a novelist). Meanwhile, I just had to let people know about this hidden jewel.

United StatesHost gave his political opinion that we didn’t ask for or want to hear. Large dogs on property not mentioned in description. Dog ran out and scared us. Neighborhood has a lot of addicts and is unsafe. Can only eat / drink at table not by the TV. Religious quite when you walk in and bible in living room table. We wanted to leave immediately but couldn’t afford to lose our payment.
The size of the place was good. Good shower. Fireplace.

United StatesThe dogs were barking while we were trying to sleep and the owner could be heard yelling at them to stop all through the night.
It’s a lovely historic building. And It’s a 10 minute drive to the Culinary Institute of America. So it’s very good location.
